Some new set pics of former MMA fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson on the set of Joe Carnahan’s “A-Team” doing his best to channel Mr. T. He’s not quite there yet, but I suppose we should all give him the benefit of the doubt, at least until the movie comes out. It’s hard to replace Mr. T, after all. If it was easy, well, he wouldn’t be Mr. T, would he? More pics via.

The official Dwight Schultz fansite actually posted this news late last month, but Dwight Schultz’s cameo in Joe Carnahan’s big-screen “A-Team” movie is confirmed. No word on what role Schultz, who played the original Howling Mad Murdock on the long-running action-adventure show will play in the movie, but if Carnahan isn’t a total moron, he’ll give the old and new Murdock (”District 9’s” Sharlto Copely) at least a brief scene together. Now if only they can wrangle Mr. T and Dirk Benedict back, too…

From what I hear around the interwebs, this is the first official cast pic from Joe Carnahan’s “The A-Team”. They really went to great lengths to get Liam Neeson, chowing down on a cigar, to look like the TV version of Hannibal, and from everything I’ve seen, Faceman (Bradley Cooper) sure gets comfortable with that assault rifle. Also in the pic is “District 9’s” Sharlto Copley as Murdock and MMA fighter Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as B.A. Baracus, who just looks like a pissed off MMA fighter who someone decided to cast in a movie. Check it out, check it outers. Missing: Jessica Biel looking ridiculously bootlicious, but perhaps that’s a-comin’.

The always gorgeous (but very unGeneral-like Jessica Biel) recently sat down for an interview with MTV, and the strange female voice asking the question offscreen asked her about the upcoming “A-Team” movie. Biel doesn’t mention that her character is an Army General chasing the boys, which sort of makes me wonder if she really is; she does say her character works for the Department of Defense, but seems to play it coy with the character’s past relationship with Faceman (to be played by Bradley Cooper), despite the fact that the news is all over the trades and the interwebs.
Also according to Biel, the movie will be “less campy” than the show, which is odd. I don’t really recall the show ever being “campy”. Okay, so the fact that they usually fire about a gazillion rounds every episode without anyone ever getting killed could be seen as “campy”, but eh, I thought that was part of the show’s charm. Also says [...]

Who knew a silly ’80s action-adventure TV show would get so much fanboy hype as it chugs its way into theaters sometime in 2010? I certainly didn’t, even though I was a big fan of the show. Now as an adult (more or less), I realize how silly the show was, the fact that they would fire off a gazillion rounds of ammunition every episode and no one would ever get shot or died. It was like watching porn but without anything going into anything, if you know what I mean. Anyhoo, more “A-Team” set pics have popped up online. Looks like Faceman (Bradley Cooper) won’t be just a pretty face in this one.

Because here’s your first look at Jessica Biel on the film’s Vancouver set, playing a General who chases our renegade band of ex-military badasses. If you’re in trouble, and you can find them, maybe you, too, can hire … The A-Team! Ahem. In the film, Biel will play an Army General and ex-lover of fugitive Faceman (Bradley Cooper), who is assigned to chase the team led by Liam Neeson’s Hannibal. Let me say that again: Jessica Biel is playing a General in the movie. Joe Carnahan directs, and “The A-Team” is expected to shoot its way into theaters June 11, 2010. Via Comingsoon.

New director, new cast, Jessica Biel as a General (!!!), but at least the van from Joe Carnahan’s upcoming big-budget version of the popular ’80s adventure show looks the same. Check out an image of the van in action in a desert below. More pics over at SplashNews. And yes, I don’t know what a celebrity paparazzi site is doing snapping pictures of a van sitting in the middle of the desert, but then again I never know what goes on in the minds of these strange, strange creatures call paparazzi.

In actual movie news, EW reports that Patrick Wilson (”Watchmen”) has joined the cast as a CIA operative. Since the movie has our heroes being chased by the government for a crime they didn’t commit, and considering Hollywood’s current grudge against the CIA (they’re eeeeeeeeeeeeevil, doncha know), my guess is that Nite Owl II’s spook won’t be so nice, and that the CIA will once again look comparable to Osama [...]

Jessica Biel as an Army General in charge of pursuing the outlaw A-Team of Joe Carnahan’s big-screen adaptation of the popular TV show? I don’t know about that. Jessica Biel can play a lot of roles — stripper, heavenly daughter of a preacher, fighter pilot — but an Army General? Isn’t there some kind of prerequisite to be a General? Like, say, being old enough to actually have earned it? Bah. This is Hollywood. Who needs any semblance of common logic?
As previously reported, it looks like a sure thing now that “District 9″ star Sharlto Copley will be playing Howling Murdoch in the “A-Team”, thus rounding out the movie’s principle cast of Liam Neeson as Hannibal, Bradley Cooper as Faceman, and Rampage Jackson as B.A. Baracus.
Also joining the cast according to Variety is Jessica Biel, playing the aforementioned Army General assigned to bring in the rogue group, wrongly convicted Special Forces soldiers who go on the run and end [...]

Well if the guys making the big-screen version of “The A-Team” have their way, anyway. At least, according to BlackFilm, who says that they’ve learned that the Powers That Be behind the movie have extended an offer to “District 9″ star Sharlto Copley to come onboard their little movie and play the role of Howling Mad Murdock, the crazy white cracker originally played by the delightfully wonderful Dwight Schultz.
Of course, the key word here is “offered” the role, and it’s just one site claiming to have an exclusive on it. Keep in mind, though, that the same site also recently claimed to have gotten inside information that said rapper The Game had the inside track on the role of B.A. Baracus. That proved false when we recently learned that UFC fighter Rampage Jackson had been given permission to pity the fool.
Then again, it would make sense for Copley to take the role. It would be his entry into the [...]

I once saw Jackson grab a Japanese fighter in the ring and literally slammed the poor bastard repeatedly into the mat by the guy’s neck. How the guy’s neck didn’t just snap into two pieces after the third or fourth slam, I’ll never know. The news comes from the Vancouver Sun (via IconvsIcon), and since the newspaper is run by Canadians and not lying British “reporters”, it appears they have a little bit more credibility. Of course, I could be wrong. What, I go around reading Canadian newspapers?

Of course, he could just be lying through his teeth, or greatly exaggerating the story, which seems more likely. Celebrities tend to do that on interviews for effect, since they’re always required to have one great story to tell. Plus, he also talks a little something about “The A-Team”.

As reported last month, Bradley Cooper, who just scored big with the bromance comedy “The Hangover” this weekend, has been officially confirmed by the trades as stepping up to the role of Faceman in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of “The A-Team”. The role was originally played by Dirk Benedict in the 1980s TV show of the same name, which was about a group of framed military commandos on the run from the military; they spent their time doing jobs for people in trouble, usually with lots of firepower that, incredibly, never seems to kill anyone.
Meanwhile, Liam Neeson, coming off his surprise hit “Taken”, will be assaying the role of the team’s brilliant leader, Hannibal, originally played by George Peppard in the original TV show. Fanboys had been hoping for Bruce Willis since the movie was announced, but that wasn’t to be. Both Neeson and Cooper are currently in negotiations to join the movie, but it’s probably a pretty sure bet [...]

According to the blokes over at IESB.net, Joe Carnahan’s “The A-Team” big-screen movie has landed its Faceman aka Templeton Peck, and it’s some guy name Bradley Cooper. As you’ll recall, Cooper, who is one of the stars of the upcoming comedy “The Hangover”, was recently attached to the Green Lantern role, which has since been shot down. The latest, and apparently confirmed Cooper sighting has him playing Faceman in the upcoming “A-Team” movie.
So how does IESB know for sure? Well, they asked him, and Cooper responded with:
“That’s out already!?” Following some laughter and excitement, he continued, “Wow. Yeah…its Joe Carnahan’s. It’s very interesting. It’ll be cool. It will be cool see what…He’ll make a great movie out of it.”
So there you have it. Bradley Cooper is Faceman in Joe Carnahan’s “The A-Team”.
Now if they can only pity the fool and convince Jaleel White to come out of retirement to play B.A. Baracus. What, Jaleel White is retired, isn’t [...]

See, this is what happens when you try to replace Mr. T with a pudgy ex-rapper with a permanent scowl that he has mistaken for acting ability: your movie blows up in your face. Or at least that’s what I’m telling people happened to the “A-Team” movie after this report by Variety, which says John Singleton, long attached to direct the big-screen version of the popular action-adventure TV show from the ’80s, has “left the project” after FOX wanted “more time to develop the script.” AKA the studio thinks Singleton’s script blows, and they want to bring in their own guy, and Singleton is doing what Hollywood people do when studios don’t necessarily agree with them: they’re taking their ball and going home.
Variety says so:
John Singleton, who had been attached to direct “A-Team,” has left the project after the studio said it wanted more time to develop the script, which has already gone through a number of rewrites.
I always thought [...]

John Singleton, the writer-director of the upcoming big-screen remake of “The A-Team” has got a problem on his hands — two of his former muses, Ice Cube and Tyrese, both wants to be in his movie, and they apparently both want to play the same part. Besides that, they’re actively and publicly lobbying for the role, telling pretty much everyone with a pen or paper (or computer keyboard) that they really, really want that role, and that they would just rock all kinds of ways playing it, gosh darn it! What’s a movie director from the hood to do? Probably give the role of B.A. Baracus to one or the other, I would imagine.
Originally, Tyrese Gibson (”2 Fast 2 Furious”, the upcoming “Transformers 2″) had mentioned that he was up for the part of B.A. Baracus, originally played by Mister T in the TV series. But whoops, Ice Cube has also been saying the same thing, and as recently as [...]

Bruce Willis as Hannibal Smith, Woody Harrelson as Murdoch, and Ice Cube as B.A. Baracus? Hell, that sounds like a dream cast to me. At least for a movie based on an old TV show where billions of rounds of ammunition is fired off in every episode, but somehow, some way, no one ever ends up shot dead. Now that’s Hollywood magic! So what about an “A-Team” movie? John Singleton wants to do it, and Ice Cube definitely wants to do it. So what’s holding this sucker up?
Ice Cube tells the LA Times:
“Man, I am so ready to play ‘B.A.’ Baracus. I was a big, big Mr. T fan. I mean, c’mon, Clubber Lang [in “Rocky III”) was amazing. I even watched his Saturday morning show, but that was cheesy. I was like everybody else, I watched it for about six weeks and said, ‘Man this isn’t any good.’ But the ‘A-Team,’ I would love for this to happen.”
“Everything is [...]
