Prince Caspian and the Pevensie kids may not have exceeded industry expectations in their first week of release, and indeed fell below the mark set by the opening weekend of the first “Chronicles of Narnia” movie, but Caspian and company nonetheless did what other films couldn’t do for the last two weeks — knock Jon Favreau’s “Iron Man” off the top spot. “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Capsian”, the second of an expected trilogy, took in $56.6 million at the box office in its weekend debut, good enough for first place over runner-up “Iron Man”, which finally had to give up the box office crown with $31.2 million in its third week of release, bringing its 3-week total to $222.5 million in the U.S. alone.
Meanwhile, the romcom “What Happens in Vegas” continues to surprise, managing to hold onto the #3 spot with a second weekend take of $13.9, bringing its two-week total to $40.3 million. But as surprisingly well as [...]

Compared to a lot of the big Summer Event films coming out this year, “Prince Caspian”, the second in the “Chronicles of Narnia” franchise, seems to be flying very low under the radar. If this thing ends up making major bucks at the box office, it must be because of its rabid fanbase, because enthusiasm for the sequel in the fanboy community at large is very muted. In any case, three new posters for the movie have shown up online.
The Pevensie siblings return to Narnia, where they are enlisted to once again help ward off an evil king and restore the rightful heir to the land’s throne, Prince Caspian.
Get your butts back to Narnia May 16, 2008.

The last “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” trailer came out a while ago, in December of 2007 to be exact, so you have to wonder what took them so long. This is, as far as I can tell, only the second trailer that’s been released, which has been posted in very high definition form over at Myspace’s Trailer Park site, or just take a look at an embedded version below, which is still pretty decent. Andrew Adamson directs the sequel, which returns Liam Neeson, Tilda Swinton, and Warwick Davis, and adds Ben Barnes as the titular Prince Caspian.
The enchanted characters of C.S. Lewis’ timeless fantasy come to life again in this second installment of the seven book series, in which the Pevensie siblings are magically and mysteriously transported back from England to Narnia, where a thrilling, perilous new adventure awaits them.
The Prince and the Pevensie kids return May 16, 2008.
High-def Version here.

Remember a time when you could go a whole year without a dozen children’s fantasy book trying to launch a wannabe movie franchise? Sigh. Those were the days. In any case, one of the few fantasy books that have managed to actually grow into a franchise is the “Chronicles of Narnia” series, with the second being “Prince Caspian”, a new poster for which has arrived online (thumbnail to your left, bigger version below).

“Prince Caspian”, the sequel to “The Chronicles of Narnia”, sure looks like a fight scene-a-second movie. Or maybe that’s just the stills that have been released. These latest batch of images from the fantasy sequel comes to us courtesy of the boys over at Cinema Blend, who scored some nice looks at the action of “Prince Narnia”. Check them out below.
One year later, the Kings and Queens of Narnia find themselves back in that faraway wondrous realm, only to discover that more than 1,300 years have passed in Narnian time. During their absence, the Golden Age of Narnia has become extinct and Narnia has been conquered by the Telmarines and is now under the control of the evil King Miraz, who rules the land without mercy. The four children will soon meet a curious new character: Narnia’s rightful heir to the throne, the young Prince Caspian, who has been forced into hiding, as his uncle Miraz plots to kill him [...]

The kids from “The Chronicles of Narnia” are back. A year after they’ve left the fairytale world, they now return, except while it’s been a year for them, it’s been 1300 years for the people of Narnia, and bad things are afoot. I’m guessing a talking lion and battles of “Lord of the Rings” proportions ensue. As you can probably tell, I’ve never read the book or even seen the first movie, but the trailer looks kind of fun.
A year after their first adventure in Narnia, Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are pulled back in by Susan’s magic horn. They find that hundreds of years have passed, and Narnia is now ruled by the bloodthirsty General Miraz, uncle to the true heir, Prince Caspian, now in exile. Now the children must find Caspian and help him depose Miraz…but how will they get home after it’s done?
Save the prince May 16, 2008.

Via the boys over at Cinematical, here’s your first look at the official poster for “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” aka Narnia 2 (thumbnail to your left, bigger version below) courtesy of the Mouse House. I haven’t seen the first one, or read the books, so I have no idea what the sequel is about. Luckily for us, someone at IMDB.com does, and they’ve written a nice little description (below). Of course, being that I HAVE seen the commercials for the first movie, I’m guessing the sequel has more English orphan kids, talking animals, and a giant lion in there somewhere. And oh yeah, some guy name Caspian, who is a Prince I hear, shows up and does stuff.
The four Pevensie children return to Narnia, only to discover that hundreds of years have passed since they ruled there, and the evil King Miraz has taken charge. With the help of a heroic mouse called Reepicheep, and the exiled heir [...]
