John Glenn’s “The Lazarus Project” (formerly called “The Heaven Project” during production) is one of those movies that are tailor-made for DVD viewing. It’s a small psychological thriller about one man’s life that moves at its own deliberate pace, assured in the knowledge that it has what it takes to get from Point A to Point B without the need for flashy editing, over the top camerawork, or all that other garbage moviemakers nowadays indulge in to keep up with the MTV generation. Releasing it straight to DVD after a few festival appearances would seem to be the film’s ultimate destiny; and in this case, that’s exactly what has happened. Having seen the movie, I can’t say as if I disagree with the decision; not because “The Lazarus Project” isn’t any good, but precisely because it is good when viewed in the proper setting.
“The Lazarus Project” stars Paul Walker (“The Fast and Furious” movies) as Ben Garvey, a reformed criminal [...]

We haven’t heard a whole lot about “The Heaven Project” for a while now, ever since we reported that Linda Cardellini was joining the cast (which already includes star Paul Walker) back in May of 2007. The latest news isn’t really news, but a reader sent us a poster for the movie. It features a whole lot of Walker, whose name is above the title (which means they’re banking on his name to sell the movie), and includes the tagline: “Some Realities Have No Escape.”
A harrowing and frightening thriller about a man who has everything he’s ever loved stripped away from him; and to earn his life and family back, he must face obstacles of mystical origins, endure countless tests of his faith, struggle with his own sanity, and explore the depth and the power of his soul.
Thanks to Felix for the poster:

Good news, bad news, kids. The good news is that The Hollywood Reporter reports that Linda Cardellini is immensely cute and she’s in a movie that has a kick-ass premise. Bad news is that it also stars Paul Walker, who can’t, as of yet, learned to act his way out of a paper bag. Even better news: The movie is called “The Heaven Project”, and it’s about a convict who is sentenced to death, “but wakes up from his execution with a new life in a small Oregon town where he works as groundskeeper at a psychiatric facility. He’s told that he was given a second chance by God, but questions whether that is actually what happened.” Basically, a real mind-fuck movie.
Here’s a better (albeit more abstract) description from IMDB.com:
