Around midnight in the city of Terminus, Ben (Justin Welborn)’s TV turns itself on, waking him up. Broadcasting across the airwaves is a signal that consists of pulsating and morphing images and an annoying droning sound. After he returns to bed, his lover Mya (Anessa Ramsey) tells him that she has to go home; her husband Lewis (AJ Bowen) will be wondering where she is. Ben begs her to stay, telling her that they can run away together. Regretfully, she leaves. On the way to her car, she encounters a man who has been stabbed. Reluctant to help him, she is caught off guard when she, herself, is nearly attacked. As soon as she arrives at her apartment building, she notices that this wasn’t an isolated case. There’s a heightened tension in the air. Couples are fighting in the hallways, physically and verbally. Inside her apartment, she finds Lewis and his two friends. They tell her that they were trying [...]

Now I would consider this story about a real, random stabbing in a movie theater where the new horror movie “The Signal” was showing to be some lame attempt at viral marketing ala “The Blair Witch Project”, except the article appeared on MSNBC.com, and I’m assuming it’s real. Then again, we are talking about MSNBC here, and who really would notice if they just decided to post nothing but articles about rabbits tomorrow? More below.
More:
Two men were stabbed and injured Sunday night while watching a horror film at the AMC Theater in Fullerton during what appears to be a random attack, police say.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers were sent to the theater at 1000 S. Lemon St. after someone reported finding a bag with what appeared to be illegal substances, said Fullerton police Lt. Tom Basham.
While the officers were at the theater, people started running out of the theater showing “The Signal,” including two men with blood on them, Basham [...]

I have to give a lot of credit to the people behind the new indie horror “The Signal”. For a movie that to me looks like it was shot on a budget, they’ve really made a name for themselves in the movie community even before the film is released. Now here’s a look at the film’s red band, age-restricted trailer. Someone needs to send me a copy of this thing so I can see it once and for all…
A horror film told in three parts from three perspectives, in which a mysterious transmission which invades every cell phone, radio and TV, turing people into killers.

Magnolia Pictures has finally released a poster for their upcoming indie horror movie “The Signal”. According to the geeks over at AICN, “The Signal” is supposed to be the next cult classic. I’ve seen trailers for it (here), and while it looks intriguing, I wouldn’t exactly call it “cult classic” material. Then again, what do I know.
A horror film told in three parts from three perspectives, in which a mysterious transmission which invades every cell phone, radio and TV, turing people into killers.
“The Signal” doesn’t have a theatrical release date as of yet, but with Magnolia involved, I’m sure that’s coming soon enough, if in limited release.

I’m hearing some really good rumblings about the new horror movie “The Signal”. The film’s indie pedigree seems to be solid, and not one of these, “We’re calling it an indie movie even though we shot it for $20 million” crap that Hollywood likes to pull. “The Signal” is being billed as a sci-fi/horror/thriller, and the trailer certainly looks like it’s a crazy mix of all those three things. I’m not sure about having three directors, harking back to that, “Too many chefs” proverb. But hey, it could work if done right, and without Hollywood interference, they may be able to go farther than a traditional horror movie. We’ll just have to wait and see. New images from the movie and trailer below.
It’s New Year’s Eve in the city of Terminus and chaos is this year’s resolution. All forms of communication have been jammed by an enigmatic transmission that preys on fear and desire driving everyone in the city [...]

The tagline for “The Signal” is, “Do you have the crazy?” Um, no, but I’m willing to give it a shot if it means getting a decent zombie movie for once. At least, that’s what this trailer for “The Signal” is promising. Then again, the trailer consists of random images thrown at super speed at the audience, and you can’t really make anything out, so if total confusion equals great, then this is the greatest movie trailer of all time. Personally I wish they would just make a decent trailer instead of going for some gimmick. But hey, that’s zombie movies for ya.
A horror film told in three parts from three perspectives, in which a mysterious transmission which invades every cell phone, radio and TV, turning people into killers.
The premise actually sounds a lot like Stephen King’s novel “Cell”, which is itself soon to be made into a movie. In the book, a cellphone transmission turns people into zombies. Do [...]
