If you’re one of the few people who haven’t seen “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” in theaters yet, what are you waiting for? The film took in a staggering $55 million in its first day on route to an estimated record $170-$180 opening weekend. And to get you psyched about more giant robots bashing each other, Paramount has given us five (5) copies of the 2-Disc Special Edition of the first “Transformers” movie to give away to five lucky winners. Head on below for details.
THE MOVIE:
From director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg comes a thrilling battle between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. When their epic struggle comes to Earth, all that stands between the Decepticons and ultimate power is a clue held by young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). Unaware that he is mankind’s last chance for survival, Sam and Bumblebee, his robot disguised as a car, are in a heart-pounding race against an enemy unlike anything [...]

Hear that? That’s the sound of the suits at Paramount jumping for joy at the news that the “Transformers” DVD, in its first week of release, has already sold more than 8.3 million copies. In case you didn’t hear, that’s in its first week. That’s only DVDs sold in North America; the number will, without a doubt, go ballistic when it lands overseas. The 8.3 million its first week was more than enough for “Transformers” to beat DVDs of “Happy Feet,” “300″ and “Night at the Museum” in their first week on the shelves. High-definition wise, the film sold 190,000 copies on the HD DVD format, Paramount having chosen HD over Blu-Ray. The 8.3 million units moved includes the 4.5 million sold on the DVD’s first day of release.

Preacher TV Series: Word out of comic book land is that no other than Robert Rodriguez is eyeing the directing gig on the pilot of the upcoming “Preacher” HBO TV series. Of course, this is just rumor, as anyone who has read comics, or the Preacher comics, knows that being associated with the show is a prime gig. For those not in the know, “Preacher” is the comic series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon that follows a down and out preacher named Jesse, his ex-girlfriend Tulip, and a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy as they wander the American wasteland and basically kill, screw, and scream out enough vulgarities to make Andrew Dice Clay blush.

Jeff the Immortal: This is funny. I was wondering when someone would make a sort of parody of the “Highlander” movies, and now it appears we have it, and it’s called “Jeff the Immortal”. According to the Hollywood Reporter:

It would certainly appear that way. Via Moviehole, who reports on a conversation the guy who voiced (for like, a second or something) Bumblebee in Michael Bay’s “Transformers” told some website about his participation in the sure-to-be-made (I mean, come on, is anyone doubt it will get made?) “Transformers 2″. The fella’s name is Mark Ryan, and he seems to indicate that he’s already providing voiceover work for a prequel to what would eventually be “Transformers 2″.
The guys from Transformers World 2005 has more on it:
Skewed and Reviewed has posted an interview with Mark Ryan, who voiced Bumblebee in the movie and also acted as the onset voice of all of the Transformers during filming. At the end of the article, Mark provides information regarding some extras to the DVD release of the recently released Transformers movie as well as hinting at a prequel that will set up the second film. At this time, it is not confirmed if the [...]

Another week, another group of feckless movies gets crushed under the heels of the mighty transformin’ robots. Industry estimates has Michael Bay’s “Transformers” (read our review here) raking in $67 million over the weekend, for a total take (so far) of $152.6 million. That was enough to make “Transformers” the top-grossing, non-sequel film of all time in its first seven days, beating out previous record holder “Spider-Man”. “Ratatouille”, about a cooking French rat, came in second with $27 million, while Bruce Willis’ “Live Free or Die Hard” continues an impressive streak with $17.4.
If all goes well, “Transformers” SHOULD break $200 by Tuesday, marking its first full 7-days at the box office. The movie had already muscled up $84 million by last Thursday, so another $40 or so million in two days won’t be much of a challenge.
And what about the Mandy Moore-Robin Williams comedy “License to Wed”? Well, let’s not talk about it. It’s just embarrassing — the box [...]

Michael Bay is not being very subtle about the possibility of some “Transformers” sequels. His answer to any questions regarding it is, “Let’s see how this one does”, which basically translates to: “If you guys go see this thing often enough, and it makes a buttload of money, then you’re damn skippy they (the studio) and I will be getting together again in 2009 (or thereabouts) to do a sequel or two.” I’m paraphrasing my made-up quote, of course. But that’s basically what it comes down to for those of you wondering if more giant f’in robots are coming your way.
Here’s what The Bay said when asked about the possible sequels by Entertainment Weekly (via):
How are you sitting with the idea of directing another Transformers movie?
Let’s see how this one does. I’ve got a lot of ideas for the next one. There’s a lot of really cool, big robot stuff that I had in my head that we didn’t [...]

To absolutely no one’s surprise, especially geeks like myself, The Bay’s “Transformers” cleaned up in its first full day of release (Tuesday) with an estimated $27.4 million in box office receipts. Add in the $8.8 million from late-night/midnight screenings on Monday, and “Transformers” has raked in over $35 million in just a day and change. Which basically means that everyone who debuted their movies before or after “Transformers” (like “Live Free or Die Hard”, which was originally supposed to show up July 4th), was smart to do so. This is a juggernaut, folks, and no one’s is gonna stop it. Why? BIG F**KIN’ ROBOTS. That’s why.

Robots. Big f**king robots. If that sounds like something you might like, then you’ll love Michael Bay’s “Transformers”, because it has robots. Big motherf**king robots.
So what’s it about? Um, haven’t you been paying attention? One more time now: Big F**king Robots.
The plot itself is incidental, but if you insist, here it is: Alien robots from the planet Cybertron have come to Earth in search of the All Spark, a giant cube that they lost many years ago when they were too busy fighting it out on their planet, which they eventually destroyed. The robots consist of two factions: the good Autobots, led by the noble Optimus Prime; and the evil Decepticons, led by the menacing Megatron. And they really, really don’t like each other. Prime is determined to save humanity and Earth from a fate similar to the one that befell Cybertron, but Megatron really couldn’t give a damn. He’s an evil bastard that way.
Luckily for us puny humans, [...]

Shia LaBeouf was recently on David Letterman’s “Late Show” to plug “Transformers” (seriously, like this movie needs anymore plugging), and he brought along a 30-second clip featuring him and a pursuing Megatron. I still have a lot of problems with how Megatron looks. I know, it wouldn’t work to make him a gun like in the cartoons, but man, I just don’t “get” the look of Megatron in the movie. He looks all kinds of crap to me, but maybe you disagree. Head on down for the clip of Megatron pursuing spunky Shia LaBeouf.
“Transformers” opens July 3rd, with showings on July 2nd. Parents, put your kids to bed, because this movie is going to kill everything at the box office when it opens.

The Powers That Be are so convinced that Michael Bay’s “Transformers” is going to clean up at the box office that they have already commissioned an animated TV series to be launch in early 2007. Now, the guys over at Seibertron has your first look at the teaser poster for the animated series. It shows five Autobots (the good guys), including Optimus Prime, Bulkhead, Ratchet, Prowl, and Bumblebee. Rumor is that the TV series will follow the storyline of the movie, and will have just the five Autobots for now.
No word on which Decepticons will make it into the show. I guess that would depend on which ones survive the movie.
“Transformers” the live-action movie hits theaters July 3rd. The animated series won’t show up until next year.

Optimus Prime still looks totally badass, Megatron still looks totally weird, and Bumblebee still looks totally yellow. Other than that, it’s nothing you haven’t seen before.

You gotta love the low-budget production company The Asylum. Well, okay, you don’t have to love them, but you do gotta admire their balls. These guys have been making a killing putting out low-budget movie versions of big-budget Hollywood films, right down to the title and cover art. A few years ago they came out with their version of “War of the Worlds” at the same time as the Spielberg version, and some of their upcoming movie titles include, “Aliens vs Hunters” (just in time for “Alien vs Predator 2″), “Invasion of the Pod People” (just in time for the Nicole Kidman starrer “The Invasion”), and “Universal Soldiers” (just in time for, uh, I don’t know.)
It’s a slow news day, so here’s “Transformers” news that star Megan Fox, director Michael Bay, and Autobot Bumblebee were in Seoul, South Korea yesterday to promote “Transformers” in front of a throng of media and fans. It’s becoming a pattern now that Hollywood is starting to worship the overseas market, and slowly but surely every major Hollywood movie is opening first overseas before finally coming home. “Transformers” will open in Korea on June 28, before returning home to open wide on July 4th, with scattered screenings July 2nd and 3rd.
The Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.
Megan Fox, Michael Bay, and Bumblebee enjoys some kimchi in Korea:

If you’ve been reading this site for more than a week, you know I’m a sucker for giant f*cking robots (i.e. Transformers), and now I can proclaim my love for giant f*cking robots with this brand spanking new T-shirt up (see bigger version below) for order at Michael Bay’s site here. How cool is this T-shirt? It’s so simple, yet so f*cking cool. That’s how f*cking cool this T-shirt is. And this line better be in the movie, too, or I’m gonna kick someone in the nads.
“Transformers” arrives July 3rd, with special screenings July 2nd.

I’m not sure if this was the footage that was said to be appearing at the MTV Movie Awards, because I missed most of the show and can’t tell you either way. But over at Michael Bay’s official blog, they’re hosting a 30-second clip (see below) of Optimus Prime and Bonecrusher getting it on on the freeway. No, seriously. Bonecrusher demolishes a bus and while he’s still engulfed in flames, charges into Optimus Prime and they go careening across the highway and OFF IT. I kid you not. This is one of the coolest 30-seconds I’ve ever seen. See the clip below!
“Transformers” arrives early July 3rd with special screenings on July 2nd.

Added: Via TheMovieBlog, here’s another 1-minute long “Transformers” clip showing some new footages:

In case our regular viewers haven’t noticed, the MTV Movie Awards is this Sunday. How could you not notice? All those flashing MTV Movie Award ads have been running on our site nonstop for the last week and change! Tune in, and besides the vulgar comedic stylings of MTV Movie Awards host Sarah Silverman, you’ll also catch brand spanking new Transformers footage during the pre-show, well, show. Also, the Powers That Be have moved the release date of “Transformers” up to July 3rd, from its originaly July 4th. Why the move? Duh. They want to make more money. It’s all about the buackaroos, kids.
Catch the MTV Movie Awards later today on, of course, MTV. And if you miss it, don’t worry, they’ll replay it nonstop for the next 6 months, as they are wont to do.

According to Digital Spy (via), the Powers That Be at Dreamworks have already given Michael Bay the go-ahead for a second and third installment in the upcoming “Transformers” franchise. Yes, that’s right, they’re going to turn it into a franchise by using that oh-so-popular spontaneous trilogy gag ala the “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Matrix”, and “Lord of the Rings” films. Tis is how DS puts it: “Meanwhile, the DreamWorks studio has given the provisional go-ahead for two more movies.” I.e. Yeah, they’re saying, “We want two sequels” now, but they could say different later, depending on the box office of “Transformers”, no doubt.
But in any case, this jives with what Megan Fox told MTV News a few weeks ago about already signing for a “Transformers” sequel.
“Transformers” opens July 4th.
Here’s a new trailer featuring Bumblebee talking (via):

There’s no reason to keep posting every new poster or picture of “Transformers” that pops up on the Internet, but what the hell, what else do I have to do with my free time? And besides, this is one movie I’m dying to see, so any little image, any new morsel of not-news news is worth posting about. So sue me, I didn’t run home everyday to watch every episode of the “Transformers” cartoon for nothing, you know. I got emotional investment in this thing!
So here’s a new International poster via SneakPeek.Ca that has been making the rounds on the movie sites:
Is that a giant robot head behind us or are you just happy to see me?

AICN has landed three new spanking “Transformers” posters, of the International flavor, and they look pretty awesome. Maybe it’s just the fanboy geek in me, or the fact that I have seen basically every “Transformers” cartoon episode from the ’80s, but I really love these simple, but so cool close-up looks at Optimus Prime and Megatron. (I’m really not sure who the yellow robot dude is, but a little reading up says he’s Bumblebee.) I still don’t like how Megatron looks, but the coolness of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee more than makes up for it. Check them out below.
The Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations.
Michael Bay’s “Transformers” roll out July 4th, 2007.
