Wait, the Transporter is gay? Yes, says “Transporter 2″ (and recent “the Incredible Hulk”) director Louis Leterrier, who once told an LA Times journalist back in 2005 that he shot “Transporter 2″ (starring the oft-shirtless Jason Statham as the action hero) as a gay character who didn’t want anything to do with women, and apparently took off his shirt not because it aided him in his fights, but because, well, he worked out a lot and a dude’s gotta attract the attention of other dudes some way, right? Okay, maybe he didn’t exactly say those things, but he did say the following:

“If you watch the movie and you know he’s gay, it becomes so much more fun,” Leterrier said then. “It’s so great — the first gay action movie hero!” He continued: “Action fans in general are pretty homophobic. You see these tough guys who say, ‘ “The Transporter,” that’s such a great movie!’ If they only knew they’re really [...]

If this isn’t the end of the Transporter, then I’ll be surprised, dismayed, and disappointed. Not only has Frank Martin pretty much failed to deliver on any of his recent jobs (do these know-it-all bad guys that keep hiring him actually ever bother to get references?), but Frank’s latest adventure, the quite frankly too awful for words “Transporter 3” leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Not only because everything about the film is by-the-numbers (you sort of expect that from a Luc Besson action movie, especially when said action movie has achieved full-blown action movie franchise status), but man oh man, the sheer level of awfulness that “Transporter 3” possesses defies logic. At this point, the only reason you should even continue watching these movies is if you’re a girl and you like your guys buff ala Jason Statham, or you’re a guy and, well, you ain’t so interested in the ladies, if you know what I mean.

You know, to be honest with you, I don’t know why bad guys keep hiring Jason Statham’s Frank Martin. You would think that people would stop recommending the guy, especially the bad guys, seeing as how ol Frank always ends up turning against them. I would imagine it would go something like this, with two bad guys in a dark, seedy bar in France somewhere, with Bad Guy 1 asking, “Say, you know someone who can transport this very illegal thing for me that, should it fall into the hands of the authorities, would surely pinch me something awful?” And Bad Guy 2 would respond, “Yeah, there’s this guy, Frank Martin. He’s really good, but the only thing is, he always end turning against you, so I wouldn’t necessarily go with him.” So what does Bad Guy 1 then say? “You got his number?”
I’m just sayin’…
Anyways, new “Transporter 3″ pics have arrived.

Here’s what we learned from the first trailer for “The Transporter 3″: Jason Statham is back, and yes, he does find a reason to take off his shirt to show us his rippling muscles, you’re welcome, ladies; a cute little freckled redhead who may or may not be French or European is involved; and someone slaps a bracelet doohickey on our man Frank Martin that he desperately wants to get rid of. Now here’s the second trailer for “Transporter 3″, in which we learn: that bracelet doohickey is set off to explode if Frank wanders more than 75 feet from his car ala “Speed”; the girl who may or may not be French is Frank’s latest package, to be delivered for bad guy Robert Knepper (aka T-Bag from Prison Break); and finally, Jason Statham once again finds a reason to take off his shirt for the ladies.

Going with the motto of, “If it’s familiar, it’ll probably sell”, or maybe they’re just really, really lazy, but the American/North American poster for “Transporter 3″ looks suspiciously like the last two posters for “Transporter” and “Transporter 2″. Obviously that’s the whole point — selling part 3 to the same people who saw part 2, because let’s face it, if you’ve become a fan of the franchise, you’re gonna see the third one regardless of what anyone says. So in that spirit, here’s the domestic poster for Jason Statham’s “Transporter 3″.
Statham’s Frank Martin transports another something that gets him in trouble with some unsavory folks. You know, the usual. “Transporter 3″ opens November 26, 2008.

You can’t keep a good transporter down. Especially when he’s as ripped as Jason Statham. He’s not just a hulking dude with fists of fury, but Frank Martin can also drive with the best of them. Better than the best of them, actually. Station returns to the franchise that made him a bankable action movie star, and this time he’s joined by Prison Break’s Robert Knepper as the heavy. Olivier Megaton takes over directing chores for the departed Louis Leterrier, who had taken over directing chores for the departed Corey Yuen. Uber French movie producer Luc Besson and his partner Robert Mark Kamen wrote the script.
What to expect from the third installment? Probably a lot of driving, a lot of punching, and if we’re lucky, Statham will take off his shirt and give the ladies the vapors. The film is scheduled for a November 26, 2008 opening. Man, they sure cranked this one out fast, didn’t they? Wasn’t it just [...]

Jason Statham returns as Frank Martin in “Transporter 3″, but unfortunately this time he’s got a new director, Olivier Megaton, calling the shots, with Louis Letterier moving on to “greener” pastures (ahem). Thanks to reader ‘Pierre’, who sent us to get this official teaser for “Transporter 3″, which sees Martin return into action with another package (this time a girl) and a whole lotta trouble (dudes in suits trying to bash his head in with wrenches and what have you).
Prison Break’s Robert Knepper co-stars as the heavy; the cast also includes Justin Rodgers Hall, François Berléand, Eriq Ebouaney, and Katia Tchenko.
There’s no release date for the film as yet.

The “Transporter” movies have always been dumb, clean fun, and as long as new director Olivier Megaton keeps that in mind, than the third installment should make some decent change at the box office. This time around, franchise star Jason Statham is joined by Prison Break scumbag Robert Knepper, no doubt once again playing the heavy, as really, with that face, what else could Knepper play? The man was born for villain roles; at least now he’s getting the lead villain roles.
Luc Besson once again produces the sequel.

Jason Statham talked about coming back for “Transporter 3″ last year, but things are never really final until Variety reports it, and today the trade paper is reporting that “Transporter 3″ is, in fact, a go with Statham back on board to star again, and Olivier Megaton taking over the directorial reins from Louis Leterrier.
More:
Jason Statham will reprise his role as mercenary driver/delivery man Frank in “Transporter 3,” the next installment in EuropaCorp’s shoot-’em-up franchise.
He will reteam with co-star Francois Berleand, while Robert Knepper (”Prison Break”) has joined the cast.
However, Louis Leterrier, who helmed the first two pics, has been replaced by Olivier Megaton (”Exit,” “The Red Siren”), who was second-unit director on EuropaCorp’s “Hitman.”
Pic, which will be produced by EuropaCorp principal Luc Besson and Steve Chasman, will shoot for 16 weeks in Russia and France.
I love the addition of Robert Knepper. For my money, he’s the best thing about the Prison Break TV series. Who doesn’t love T-bag?

Well this is interesting news. According to Jason Statham via the MTV Movie Blog, the actor says he will not be in the upcoming “G.I. Joe” movie, nor was he ever attached to it, despite previous reports to the contrary that he would be playing the British equivalent of the American-themed G.I. Joes, aka Action Man. Well to be fair to IESB, who originally floated the report of Action Man and Jason Statham’s involvement in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the popular toy franchise, they only said that Jason Statham was “the first choice” for the role, they never said he got it, or he was offered it. According to Statham, he was never offered the role, and he doesn’t want it.
Says Statham:
“The old Internet can be quite misleading at times… I don’t know where that came from. [I have] no connection with ‘G.I. Joe’.”

Besson also talks about his other projects, including some involvement with the “Hitman” movie, a possible sequel (or two) to “The Fifth Element”, and why working in America sucks donkey balls as compared to working in beautiful France. It’s a pretty interesting interview, and Besson really comes across like a highly agitated European. I can imagine it must be a dream to interview this guy in person. Har har.
Here’s the interesting part:
Crave Online: What can you tell us about the B13 sequel?
Luc Besson: We’re not going to do it.
Crave Online: Why not?
Luc Besson: I don’t know, I don’t feel it.
