Channing Tatum as Captain America?

In just a few short years, Channing Tatum has been in tons of big Hollywood movies, most of them as the leading man, but I swear I don’t know anyone who even knows who he is. That may actually work in his favor if he continues to promote himself as a viable candidate to play Captain America in “The First Avenger: Captain America” (seriously, they need to just call this thing either “Captain America” or “The First Avenger”, using both is just clunky).
Speaking to MTV, Channing talks about that stale rumor from ways back that had Will Smith as a contender for the role, but adds that he wouldn’t mind playing the role himself if it doesn’t work out for Smith.
“I would love to play Captain America,” Tatum explained in no uncertain terms. “I actually really, really would love it.”
“I love Captain America. I’m not a big aficionado on him,” he added. “But I know who we was, and I like him as a character.”
He’s basically playing a Captain America type already in the upcoming “G.I. Joe” movie, so slipping on some tights wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. Plus, the guy has the physique and physicality to pull off the role, and like I said, he’s just unknown, but known enough to front a major franchise.
Plus, Tatum is about the right age to build a franchise around. Yeah, I could definitely see it happening. Makes more sense than Will Smith as Captain America, anyway…

What is wrong with you guys calling people retards you sound like retards calling me that. Not once did I insult anyone here so get off the geek juice. Anyway what I am saying is that in a solo film for Cap an unknown may do ok here in the states but you guys need to travel, like I said America isn’t really liked in many other countries so it might sell in the states but believe me people from other countries are already disrespecting the idea. I know that some of you don’t care what other countries think but I do. I want to see Cap become an international success. As far as in the Avengers movie whew!! Oh boy, like I said this “Unknown” would have to be better than Robert Downey Jr., and Heath Ledger put together. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it if this guy can be found but oh man what a task to find this guy and what a risk. Either way I hope they do the right thing. I also see what you say about the “actor” not outshining the “character”. Well with a great actor that won’t happen. Obviously you will recognize the actor first but judge his performance afterwards, and that is what happened with Robert Downey Jr. Yes you knew VERY well that that was Robert Downey Jr. portraying Tony Stark and did he do it well? Yes he did and you sort of forgot that it was RDJ and he became Tony Stark in the flesh. And that is what I mean by an A-lister such as Brad Pitt would work because he’ll do just what RDJ did or even better. I would like to see an unknown do it but I don’t think it would work that well yet. Whoever they choose though I’m sure they’ll screen test them up against the other actors too they have to. I respect you guys opinions just respect mine and stop acting like elementary school kids and stop calling people names.

yall are forgetting the important fact that Channing Tatum is the worst actor that has ever been in any movie ever. He is worse than those actors in silent movies from the 1920’s. he is a worse actor than Master P. he is worse than those E-Trade babies. His acting skills is close to Fozzie Bear from the Muppets, but not quite as good. Kermit the Frog is much better than him though So is Miss Piggy. He is the only actor that I have sworn to never watch another movie with him in it, for the express fact that he is in it. BOOO CHANNING TATUM!!! I can never tell when your upset because you cant act well enough to express any emotion. BOOOO thanks for ruining GI Joe and making a decent movie (Fighting) horrible.
