yall are forgetting the important fact that Channing Tatum is the worst actor that has ever been in any movie ever. He is worse than those actors in silent movies from the 1920’s. he is a worse actor than Master P. he is worse than those E-Trade babies. His acting skills is close to Fozzie Bear from the Muppets, but not quite as good. Kermit the Frog is much better than him though So is Miss Piggy. He is the only actor that I have sworn to never watch another movie with him in it, for the express fact that he is in it. BOOO CHANNING TATUM!!! I can never tell when your upset because you cant act well enough to express any emotion. BOOOO thanks for ruining GI Joe and making a decent movie (Fighting) horrible.

What is wrong with you guys calling people retards you sound like retards calling me that. Not once did I insult anyone here so get off the geek juice. Anyway what I am saying is that in a solo film for Cap an unknown may do ok here in the states but you guys need to travel, like I said America isn’t really liked in many other countries so it might sell in the states but believe me people from other countries are already disrespecting the idea. I know that some of you don’t care what other countries think but I do. I want to see Cap become an international success. As far as in the Avengers movie whew!! Oh boy, like I said this “Unknown” would have to be better than Robert Downey Jr., and Heath Ledger put together. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it if this guy can be found but oh man what a task to find this guy and what a risk. Either way I hope they do the right thing. I also see what you say about the “actor” not outshining the “character”. Well with a great actor that won’t happen. Obviously you will recognize the actor first but judge his performance afterwards, and that is what happened with Robert Downey Jr. Yes you knew VERY well that that was Robert Downey Jr. portraying Tony Stark and did he do it well? Yes he did and you sort of forgot that it was RDJ and he became Tony Stark in the flesh. And that is what I mean by an A-lister such as Brad Pitt would work because he’ll do just what RDJ did or even better. I would like to see an unknown do it but I don’t think it would work that well yet. Whoever they choose though I’m sure they’ll screen test them up against the other actors too they have to. I respect you guys opinions just respect mine and stop acting like elementary school kids and stop calling people names.

Dude, he’s like 41 years old and would be 43 buy the time the Movie comes out. They got away with RDJ playing Stark because of the suit. but Rogers is A Young man just joining the Army and Echart was the only crappy part of “Dark Knight”. I like him as an actor, but he’s A poor choice to play Cap. To Old and just like with 2 face? he would not take it seriously and would blow it.

But I DID agree with you totally that age isn’t the issue here. Even an older guy like Neil Fifer (same age as Downey) would look more like a man (as a result of the Super Soldier Serum) fighting next to the young men of WWII. He’s look like the Leader of men.

Sorry… I should have been specific. What makes you think a well-know Actor is required to: ‘… be able to ’sell’ Captain America.’ Ahh… HE’S CAPTAIN AMERICA FOR CHRIST’S SAKE!!! Captain America IS the star of his movie… NOT the well-known actor. Ugh! Lesser/Unknowns are better for these roles. THEN the don’t OUTSHINE the Comic Character they’re playing… the character shines.

are you a retard? brad pitt is too big of a star to be capt. Everyone would be more focus on brad pitt than on capt. Besides brad pitt doesnt have the “look” and “feel” needed to play captain america. And saying that the film needs a famous actor is ridiculous. The only way for this movie to sell well, is for someone to fit the role of capt america perfectly, and for the ad companies to hype it up.. no need for fancy stars

Neil Fifer still seems the best fit. A name actor doesn’t fit Captain America…remember, he’s been out of the public eye in suspended animation in this ‘Origin’ movie of his for almost 70 years. So a ‘lesser known’ is the better fit. As for Downey out-shining whomever is cast to play the Captain… the Director can control that. And as Steve Rogers is a product of the 1940’s and Stark is a dynamic, billionaire of the 21st century, it would make sense this his character be more charismatic and Steve Rogers be the stronger, silent type. As with Erik’s comments above, I believe Neil Fifer does fit the role physically, and leave the rest up to the Director to do the rest.

Hey Erik I respect your point but you have to remember that whoever is cast as Captain America has to be able to hold his own on screen against some heavy hitters. If they cast an unknown and Robert Downey Jr. outshines him, its over. You will have a sh*&ty ass Captain America. Look at what happened in “Tropic Thunder”, RDJ stole the show!!. So you have to be careful, Captain America commands leadership and everyone looks up to him, there has to be great chemistry with these actors or it won’t work. Captain America is hardly known within the U.S. let alone internationally. Picking an unknown defininately won’t help international sales. So let Cap get established first like how RDJ with Iron Man, then we can move on to an unknown in the future. I would love to see a “Mcguiver/24esque” Captain America T.V. series after the movie. Then we could see cameos like The Falcon,U.S. Agent, Crossbones, Taskmaster,etc.

Okay, as a huge Captain America fan, I have some say on this.
First of all, after checking out that link, Neil Fifer does seem that he could fit the role physically, but I’ve never seen him act so I can’t say whether or not he’d be great for it.
Channing Tatum could not pull of Captain America. He’s a kid, and he’s been in too many “I’m white but I still talk shit and can dance” movies to pull this off correctly. Yes, he’s in GI Joe, but how he performs is still to be seen. He’s too young, and its not his style, plus he doesn’t look the part.
Brad Pitt, eh. I don’t know if Brad could pull it off. From an acting standpoint, yes, he could do very well, but he just doesn’t seem to have it all for me. I don’t know, Brad Pitt seems like too much of a rich, goody guy to play the greatest hero who ever lived.
My two picks? Patrick Wilson. Check him out, he played Raoul on Phantom of the Opera and Night Owl in Watchmen. He’s got the looks, he just needs to buff up a little, and he’s a great actor. My second pick is Sam Worthington. He plays Marcus Wright (The new terminator) in Terminator Salvation. Dye his hair blond and you’ve got a guy who is built right, and who knows what he’s doing on camera

You have to get a well known actor who is repsected and loved internationally to be able to sell a Captain America movie. I’d like to see an unknown do it but it just won’t work because it is TOO risky let alone being risky enough as it is with any actor. America is’nt liked a whole lot around the world and Cap isn’t as popular as Batman or Superman, so an unknown won’t work just yet. After Cap is made internationally popular like what happened with Iron Man, then in about 5-10 years, an unknown can be cast in future movies. Brad Pitt is the only actor that could sell Captain America domestically and internationally and do a excellent job at it. People need to quit with the “He’s too old stuff because if thats the case then RDJ is too old too. Watch “The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button” and you’ll see that the age thing isn’t a problem plus Brad stays in great shape. The only unknown should be for Thor but Giant Man/Ant Man can’t be an unknown either I think that Leonardo DiCaprio is the best man for that role. Watch the Aviator.

Neil Fifer http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1292175/ is the best choice for Captain America (by far)! 6′ / 250lbs. Light Blue eyes. Cleft chin… etc. etc. etc. Captain America isn’t just a ‘pretty boy’… he IS a Super Soldier. Ex-Models with pencil necks like ‘Channing’ (lol) aren’t going to match this character. HOPEFULLY Feige and Campbell will do this Leader of the Avengers job right when they cast it!
