As expected, the actresses are all ridiculously attractive and their characters saddled with ridiculously and unbelievably “tough girl” creds. What, they couldn’t just be three attractive girls who uses their guile and feminine charms to get the job done? They all have to be super duper badasses that can take on an army of Al-Qaeda operatives single-handedly? Apparently so.
TVLine says the latest two angels to join previously announced angel Annie Ilonzeh are Minka Kelly (formerly of “Friday Night Lights”) and Rachael Taylor (aka that smart Aussie girl from the first “Transformers” movie).
Kelly will play Marisa, “a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-head combat, and a neat freak.” Taylor, meanwhile, will play Abby, “the youngest and sassiest of the Angels. The beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook, she is an expert con artist herself, as well as a Krav Maga expert.”
Wow. One’s a former Marine trained in all forms of hand-to-hand combat and the other is a Krav Maga expert who is also “sassy” and an “expert con artist”. Oh, Hollywood. I guess they’re not going for “The Wire”-type realism here.
But hey, at least the show will look good. Granted, you won’t believe a single second of it, but at least your eyes will be happy. And er, possibly other parts of your anatomy.
“Smallville” guys Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are producing.
