Charlize Theron in Young Adult (2011) Movie Image

Directed by Jason Reitman and written by Diablo Cody? Now that’s one heck of a pedigree for a quirky adult drama with heavy doses of comedy and biting something or rather. Or at least, one hopes. Check out the first trailer for the “Juno” duo’s “Young Adult”, starring Charlize Theron as a former small-town girl who returns home to steal her high school sweetheart, who happens to be married with a new kid. It’s the kind of movie that makes you jump up and cheer — for the leading lady to fail miserably? Maybe. I get the feeling Charlize’s character will have some redeeming qualities that will make us root for her. Or perhaps not.

Academy Award(R) winner Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a writer of teen literature who returns to her small hometown to relive her glory days and attempt to reclaim her happily married high school sweetheart (Patrick Wilson). When returning home proves more difficult than she thought, Mavis forms an unusual bond with a former classmate (Patton Oswalt) who hasn’t quite gotten over high school, either

Starring Charlize Theron, Patton Oswalt, Patrick Wilson, and Elizabeth Reaser.

Coming home December 9th, 2011.
