No wonder Seth MacFarlane wants to get out of the cartoon business (or at least, expand beyond it) into live-action. Because he gets to star in movies where his love interest is gals like Charlize Theron.
The former “Prometheus” star, who was also easily the best thing about “Snow White and the Huntsman” (it sure as hell wasn’t Snow White or her wild adventures through the forest of demon trees), is in final negotiations to co-star in the “Blazing Saddles”-style Western comedy from the “Family Guy” and “Ted” creator.
MacFarlane will direct and star as “a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and sees his girlfriend leave him. When he meets the wife of a notorious outlaw who offers to teach him how to shoot, the farmer at first sees a chance to win back his love but slowly falls for the woman. Complications ensue when the outlaw returns and reclaims his woman.”
No word on who Theron is playing, but my guess is it’s the “the wife” of that notorious outlaw who teaches our hero how to shoot. After all, you don’t hire a dame like Theron and ask her to play second fiddle. Or at least, you shouldn’t.
“A Million Ways to Die in the West” is expected to shoot sometime this May.
MacFarlane, meanwhile, still has all those animation commitments for Fox (he has what now, 50 shows on the network?), along with hosting something called the Oscars, whatever that is.
