X-Men Days of Future Past Comic Book Cover“X-Men: Days of Future Past” director Bryan Singer (or at least, one of his assistants, unless, of course, Singer can snap a pic of himself from a few feet away and tweet it at the same time — then again, maybe he has super secret powers, who knows?) has tweeted two more images of interest from the set of his upcoming comic book sequel.

The first features Singer with star Peter Dinklage (“Game of Thrones”), who it is believed is playing the movie’s villain Bolivar Trask. Or at least, one of the villains. After all, the way Singer is stuffing the cast of “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, who knows how many villains there are in this thing. Gotta be a lot to fight off the film’s gazillion good guy mutants, right?

Meanwhile, a second image gives us our first look at Bolivar Trask’s Trask Industries. Or at least, the logo to Trask’s company.

Trask is the creators of the Sentinels, who comic book readers will know as giant mutant-wrestlin’ robots that will take center stage in the dark future of “Days of Future Past”. It is this dark future that our merry mutants will try to avert in the film, thanks to time-traveling warnings provided by one Kitty Pryde (aka Ellen Page).

“Days of Future Past” will star Jennifer Lawrence, Peter Dinklage, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, Shawn Ashmore, Patrick Stewart, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Omar Sy, Hugh Jackman, and is set for next year July 18, 2014.

Has Singer officially announced that Dinklage will be playing Boivar Trask? I know that there was a lot of speculation to him being cast in that role and the moustche is a mainstay of the Sentinel’s creator (save for Bill Duke’s performance in The Last Stand).

His rumored role as avillain would certainly back that speculation. However, what I thought was interesting was the text included with the pic of Singer and Dinklage that reads something to the effect of on our flight back to montreal. Flight? Montreal? Alpha Flight perhaps?!?!?! If he is hinting to that then it would a no brainer to think that Dinklage is actually set to portray the diminutive member of Canada’s government sponsored, superpowered team, Eugene Judd AKA Puck!

Now I know that in this day and age I shouldn’t shoehorn an actor merely because of his stature but c’mon! He’s a little person, Puck is a little person. He has a moustache, Puck has a moustache. He is known for playing bad asses, Puck is a bad ass.

I’m thinking that instead of playing a character who has already appeared in another film by an African American actor he may show up as a member of a government sponsored organization who is working hand in hand with Trask Industries to keep the “mutant threat” at bay. Especially when one of the things that this film is intended to do is clean up those pesky continuity problems.

    Her is my take:

William Stryker Sr. put together a task force after the events of X-Men First Class. Included in that task force is Alpha Flight (either the original team line-up or, since FOX is so eager to mix things up, a mix of Alpha Flight members, Purifier Members and even Revers members renamed the MRD in the film) who are the governments first line of defense against the newly fromed mutant teams the X-Men and The Brotherhood. They are humans who have been genetically altered by one of the governments top scientists, Dr. Stephen Lang. Also in motion is Project Wide Awake which is the implimentation of the sentinels as their last resort. Bolivar Trask is the the manufacturer who was contracted to build the sentinels and is played by another actor. Preferably a 30 something African AMerican ator who resembles a ypung Bill Duke.

    Hey, it could happen! LOL.

yes, and it’s in the 70′s. I’d still agree and love to see him as Puck in the future half. I doubt we’d get Alpha Flight proper, but him being a remnant of the team would be nice.

Also Tommy Lee Jones played Two Face in Batman Forever after Billy Dee Williams played Harvy Dent in the ioriginal Batman.

Just because some other jackass did it before doesn’t make it right. Besides, those were the dark ages of comic films. This is a new era. One that should be wry with intelligent storytelling, casting and acting alike. Why confuse audiences more thatn they need to. We already have such debacles like the White Queen who was in XOW for absolutely no reason made to be SilverFox’s sister(?!) and also had some sort of tie to the scientist chick at the weapon X facility (?!?!), Quicksilver (don’t get me started on that!!!) Storm’s many cameos and the Sabretooth switcharoo. Just keep the guy the same. Cast Dinklage as another character and focus on sifting through that mess! LOL.

My picks for the amalgam group that comprise the government lead MRD are:

Eugene Judd (Puck), Donald Pierce, John Sublime, James MacDonald (Vindicator), Vertigo, Carl Denti (X-Cutioner) and Graydon Creed

Walter Lankowski (Sasquatch) could be an assistant to Lang as anod for the comic fans.

I forgot to add the connection between Vindicator in this scenario.
Okay, so in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is set roughly in 1985, the MacDonald’s are shot down while harboring the hunted Logan in their farmhouse. Their son, James (Vindicator), who we could put somewhere in the age range of between 18 and 30 was in the military at the time and found out about what happened and blames Logan. He is now the commander of this team and out for mutants, Logan in particular. Now it is present day and the MRD has been put into action. That could mirror the comics where Alpha Flight are out to bring Wolverine back to their fold leading to an epic smackdown between Vindicator and Wolverine! That would be bad ass!!! My pick for Vindicator would be Richard Burgi (Hostel part II, Friday The 13th Remake)
