We’re still more than a year away from the release of “Thor: The Dark World”, but that’s not going to stop anyone from insatiably seeking out details about the sequel. So far we’ve seen some behind-the-scenes video and photos, but beyond that it’s mostly been casting updates and such. Until now. Disney has released the first official synopsis of the film. Check it out below.
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
“Thor: The Dark World” stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo, and Anthony Hopkins. Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”) directs the film, which opens November 8, 2013.
What do you think of this? Do you like the sound of this plot so far? I’ve never been the biggest reader of “Thor”, so I don’t know how closely this story resembles the comics. What would you like to see in “Thor: The Dark World”?
