If the name Timur Bekmambetov doesn’t ring any bells, he’s the guy who gave you curving bullets and Angelina Jolie’s emancipated half-naked ass in “Wanted”. He’s actually a director of some international renown, having previously burst onto the scene with “Night Watch”. He’s also the producer on a new Russian movie called “Black Lightning”, which is about a flying car. Plot, trailer, and concept artwork ahoy.
From Quiet Earth, who points to this awful translation of the film’s plot:
A usual student of Moscow VUZ (Institute of Higher Education) who is randomly becomes the possessor of a used domestic vehicle, which, as it is explained, can fly! Our main hero is converted from a simple person, into the super-hero, the defender of city, mysterious fighter against evil.
Basically, regular schlub gets his hands on a flying car, becomes a superhero. Hot girls ask him out on dates. I could be wrong about the second part, though. Also, I have no idea how a flying car makes you a superhero. I mean, it’s a great way to pick up the ladies, but how does it help you fight crime? Does it shoot lasers or missiles or something? Anyways.
The film will be directed by Dmitry Kiselev and Alexander Voytinskiy, with Bekmambetov producing. Concept artwork from the flick and teaser trailer below.
