The 2011 Chinese horror flick “Mysterious Island” found a group of young and attractive individuals competing for cash on — you guessed it — a mysterious island in the middle of nowhere. Lots of people die, quite a bit of blood is shed, and the credits eventually roll. It wasn’t art, but it wasn’t that bad either. However, apparently the film did well to prompt producers into bankrolling a sequel. Good for them, especially since it gives me something to write about.
“Mysterious Island 2″ has plenty to offer those in search of blood, ghosts, and lithe girls in their underwear. Oh, and it also features girls who pour water on themselves before turning around in dramatic fashion. Plus, car chases. The damn thing has car chases, too. If “Mysterious Island 2″ had Jean-Claude Van Damme, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.
If all of that sounds like a fantastic time at the local theater, then you’ll be happy to know that the film opens in China on January 26. Although I found the original to be a little less than spectacular, I may have to give “Mysterious Island 2″ its proverbial day in court. You can check out a pair of trailers below. The newest one is on top.
