Pop quiz, hotshot: it’s the zombie apocalypse, civilization as we know it has fallen, and to top it off, your 16-year old daughter Maggie just got bit and is slowly turning into a zombie. What do you do? What do you DO?
Well, if you’re Paddy Considine, then you love her unconditionally anyway. Without, you know, letting her bite you, that is. That’s the premise of screenwriter John Scott’s “Maggie”, which is set “against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse.”
Inferno Entertainment is currently selling the film in Cannes, and is looking at ever-busy teen Chloe Moretz to play the titular young girl who is slowly but surely succumbing to her undead, er “condition”. Considine is also in talks to play the father, with commercial director Henry Hobson set to make his feature film debut on the picture.
“Maggie” surfaced last year, with “Wanted” director Timur Bekmambetov attaching himself as a producer. No word if he’s still involved, but as prolific as he’s become in recent years, I would expect so.
Hard-working Chloe Moretz played a tortured vampire in “Let Me In”, is in Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows”, and is currently scheduled to play a killer teen with psychic powers in the remake of “Carrie”. She’s also got a half dozen other projects on her plate, which is why I think it’s going to be pretty difficult to get her back for Universal’s “Kick Ass 2” as planned, and without her, is there a “Kick Ass 2”?
