Chow Yun Fat and Johnnie To to Do an Action Movie Together
Asian Movie News — By Nix on September 20, 2007
Hong Kong action movie icons Chow Yun Fat and Johnnie To to collaborate on a brand spanking new action movie set in Macau that To hopes to start shooting next month? A movie To is so excited about making that he’s willing to clear out his entire schedule for 2007 just to do it? Oh hell yeah, this is good news, alright. If you’ve ever loved Hong Kong’s crime films, this news should have you running around like a crazy jackass, because let’s face it, the only thing better than a Johnnie To gangster movie is a Chow Yun Fat gangster movie, and when you put the two of them together? I GOTTA see this thing!
Here’s news about the impending collaboration via Goldsea:
The film would bring together one of Hong Kong’s biggest action stars and one of the few local directors left to make the stylish action movies that the territory is known for.
Chow and To revealed the possible collaboration while attending a news conference for a short film competition.
“We’re discussing the matter,” Chow told reporters, adding that he was exercising regularly to get in shape for the movie.
To said his frequent co-director Wai Ka-fai is still working on the script, but that he hopes shooting can start next month, with filming to take place in Hong Kong and the neighboring gambling enclave of Macau. He wouldn’t reveal the story or other actors cast in the movie.
Good thing Chow is getting back in shape. He’s been looking a little, well, big lately. Alec Baldwin big, no less. You can’t be that round and fly around with two guns blasting, after all.
