Chris Evans Says Fantastic Four 3 is Unlikely

Let’s face in, in the canon of comic book movies, the two “Fantastic Four” films belong somewhere between Albert Pyun’s “Captain America” and Roger Corman’s, well, “Fantastic Four”. In a word, they were absolutely horrid examples of storytelling, screenwriting, acting, and directing. Basically, the only reasons to ever watch those films was to wait for Jessica Alba’s costume to fall off; or, if you weren’t prone to such lecherous concerns, you just liked the Human Torch, as played by Chris Evans, who was bar none the best thing about those two films, but even he didn’t have very much to do in the second one. Now according to Chris Evans, the possibility of a “Fantastic Four 3″ seems highly unlikely. Or at least, he hasn’t heard anything about a third one yet, and if the studio wanted to do one, wouldn’t they have said so by now?

More:

“I’m pretty sure we won’t do [another] one,” insisted “Fantastic Four” star Chris Evans, who excelled in two films as the Human Torch. “I’m assuming that one is a closed book.”

What gives? In recent months, both Jessica Alba and Michael Chiklis have expressed a strong desire to come back for “FF3,” each one even going so far as to offer up a preferred storyline.

Sure, Franklin Richards or The Puppet Master would be cool. It’s not the storylines that worries Evans, he insists, it’s the fact that they have to offer it up the storylines at all, he told MTV News.

“After the first one was released we got wind of potential titles and plots [almost immediately], and I’ve heard nothing from anyone at Fox [yet],” he grumbled. “We had all planned on doing [another] one but if there were going to be a third I think a week after the second one was released we would have heard.”

It’s probably for the best. Evans has a thriving movie career, he doesn’t need to sully it further by being associated with yet another silly movie that posits the theory of Jessica Alba as a scientist. Wow, talk about a whopper, that one. Alba can barely say the word “scientist”, much less play one.
