Universal’s “Jurassic World”, their fourth in the human chomping dino franchise, was originally set to star “Oldboy’s” Josh Brolin, but it might now get a Guardian of the Galaxy instead, with Chris Pratt reportedly in talks to land the male lead.
Talks, we’re told, are still in the very “early” stages, so it might not happen. If it goes through, he would replace Brolin, whose deal to star never happened.
Colin Trevorrow (“Safety Not Guaranteed”) is still directing the film, which will also star Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson and Ty Simpkins. “Life of Pi’s” Irrfan Khan is also in talks for a supporting role.
No one except Trevorrow and his co-writer Derek Connolly know what “Jurassic World” will be about, but given the title, I’m guessing another dino park is in play. One that will soon go entertainingly awry, of course.
Pratt has James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” coming up, a film that’s bound to turn him into a major leading man. He’s already one of the stars of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation”, where he plays the love interest of Audrey Plaza. Plaza, for those of you who enjoy playing such games, was the star of Trevorrow’s “Safety Not Guaranteed”. And I’m sure Kevin Bacon shows up there somewhere…
“Jurassic World” is scheduled to roar again on June 12, 2015.
Pratt may be playing a square jaw hero in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and possibly in “Jurassic Park”, but he’s also a pretty funny dude. Here he is showing off some comedy chops in Vince Vaughn’s “Delivery Man”, where he might possibly be the funniest thing about this movie:
