As it chugs toward its inevitable 2012 Summer release date, Warner Bros.’ big-time “Man of Steel”, their Superman reboot, will be adding Christopher Meloni to its roster. Meloni, for those who don’t know, is one of the long-time stars of the “Law and Order” franchises. You know, the one set in Russia? I think it’s called “Law and Order: Siberia”, where they drink a bottle of Vodka after every successful conviction. Then again, I’ve only seen the show once or twice, so I could be wrong.
Anyhoo. Deadline doesn’t know who Christopher Meloni is in negotiations to play, only that it will be a “major role” for the former copper.
Meloni will join Henry Cavill as Superman, with his two sets of parents being played by Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond representing the Kryptonian side of the Man of Steel and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane holding it down for the home crowd. Amy Adams was also previously cast as Lois Lane, along with Michael Shannon and Antje Traue as villains.
Zack Snyder will direct, with Christopher Nolan producing.
So who will Meloni be playing? A younger Lex Luthor, perhaps? He certainly has the face shape and the beginnings of a bald spot for the role…
