Claire Forlani Books a Trip to Camelot

Lovely British lass Claire Forlani and actor Peter Mooney have joined the cast of the Starz Channel’s new original show “Camelot”, yet another re-imagining on the Arthurian legend. Forlani will play Arthur’s mother, Queen Igraine, while Mooney (left) will play Kay, Arthur’s brother and right-hand man. Yes, this does mean Claire Forlani (below) is playing mom characters now. Wow, how time flies…

The two actors join a show that will pay more attention to the wizards and magic behind the legend than on the usual suspect of Arthur and company, putting it more in line with the BBC’s “Merlin” show, which focused on a young Merlin as he tries to help Arthur’s quest to become king while trying to remain in the background. The show’s leads will be Joseph Fiennes and Eva Green, who will be playing Merlin and Morgana, respectively.

Also in the cast, Jamie Campbell Bower as a young Arthur, and Tamsin Egerton as his young ladylove Guinevere.

Filming on the show is scheduled to start this week in Ireland, for an early 2011 premiere on the pay cable net Starz, which nabbed itself a major hit last year with the blood and guts glory of “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”.
