Or maybe the headline should be, “Hiring screenwriters in Hollywood is so cheap, that Warner Bros. is already tossing away a few shillings to write a script for ‘Clash of the Titans 3′ even before the second one hits theaters.”
Of course, studios announcing sequels to movies that haven’t even opened yet is no new thing, in particular with genre movies, where the mythical trilogy is the new goal for every movie producer/big-time studio worth their salt. The “Clash of the Titans” franchise is no different.
To that end, a few bucks have been tossed in the direction of screenwriters Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson, who also helped shape the script for the second movie, since titled “Wrath of the Titans”. (I guess that’s a better title than my first choice, “Breath of the Titans”. You know, cause there is no mouthwash back in the ye olden days?)
The idea is apparently to leave part 2 open for a third movie, with Sam Worthington’s half-human/half-God/all-brooding savior Perseus back. Also expected back is a new character named Agenor, to be played by the awesome Toby Kebbell. (Hat tip: if you’ve never seen Kebbell kick ass in “The Veteran”, watch it. That movie is Godawful, but it’s got one awesome moment towards the end when Kebbell, armed with an assault rifle and extreme precision, blasts his way through a gang of toughs with terrible “gangsta” aim.)
“Wrath of the Titans”, meanwhile, is in production with “Battle: Los Angeles” director Jonathan Liebesman at the helm. Worthington stars alongside Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Danny Huston, Edgar Ramirez, Rosamund Pike and Bill Nighy.
Pike, as previously reported, is replacing Alexa Davalos as human love interest Andromeda. No signs of Gemma Arterton, so it appears she’s not back for the second time around. We’ll miss you, Io. Sniff.
