The Movie, Terrible, awful, dreadful, very bad, appalling, poor, horrible, atrocious, dreadful, unbearable, execrable. Look in the dictionary for the deification of any of the above, and you should see the word Cloverfield used as an example. THE MOVIE IS JUST DOWN RIGHT TERRIBLE. Plan 9 from Outter Space’ was once describe as ‘A true piece of film making incompetence” but compared to CLOVERFIELD, Plan 9 for its time compared to today’s technology has lost its title to CLOVERFIELD.

Not a film for anyone who likes their movies wrapped up in a nice tidy package but for me this is one of the best and most original monster movies EVER! Dont get me wrong the camera work for this had me ready to tip the popcorn out and use as a sickbag due to motion sickness! lol, but in my opinion this added to the overall feel that we were there with the survivors and the fact we dont know the origin of the monster perfectly leaves it open for a sequel… which I cant wait to see! didn’t spot the ‘dont blink’ bit at the end of the film but love having to do work for myself to try and figure out what happened, where it may have come from etc.

This movie was great IMHO. I really liked how realistic it was. It really brought out the chaos and tension amongst the characters and immersed it with the audience. I saw many people leaning out of their seats because they were, how you say, into the film and were anxious about what was coming next. The acting was very realistic as well. For most of you who wanted more or who wanted closure about the monster, it wasn’t all about the monster!! It was about a group of people who were just trying to get the hell out. It was from their point of view!! Many complained about the shaky camera work. It was intended to be shaky to add to the realism. If you couldn’t get over it or made you sick, boo hoo cry me a river. But ofcourse if you’re epileptic, then that is totally a different situation, because watching this movie might be dangerous. For those who thought this movie sucked, you’re too much of a hollywood fanboy. I finally saw a sci-fi movie which seemed very realistic. Although, if a situation like that would occur in real life, I would stop filming and just get the hell out. I really liked how it was done. Seriously, if something like that were to happen, the movie could be a direct representation of a scenario that could affect certain people if such an event would/could occur. You have to look at it from that point of view not from a Hollywood aspect. It was intended to look realistic, not glamorous, predictable, or with a happy ending. Overall its a good film especially for being a low budget film.

The worst movie ever! Personally I want my money back. Shaky camera work, bad script, good acting, and nothing else going for it. Saw the end coming but wished I’d left 80 mins earlier.
I mean, come one, if all hell is breaking loose are you seriously going to carry on filming or run like hell??? Complete crap.

I like the movie.. I just didnt like the movement of the camera the whole time.. I think it was great! I just wish we had some closure of what happend to lily? and what happend to everyone! besides the ones that we seen die! good movie tho!!!

after watching the whole coney island ending sequence about 50 times, i’m convinced that anybody who saw something fall into the water is mistaken. i see absolutely NOTHING falling out of the sky or into the water at ANY point in that part. if somebody could prove its existence with a screenshot or something, or even tell us exactly the moment and position on the screen, maybe then i would be convinced. but i’m fairly sure there’s absolutely nothing there.

I agree this movie smelled really bad. I felt like leaving a skidmark on seat, but alas it wasnt theatre’s fault, but film makers.

I saw Cloverfield yesterday afternoon. I must admit that while I agree that the introduction was interminable and that it took a while to get used to the video camera aspect of the film, in the end it worked. You were drawn into the film and actually felt a part of the drama unfolding before you. I enjoyed the film and would highly recommend it. I will say that after the movie, I talked to others who just watched the movie, and they were equally as fond of it as I was.

A movie that breaks conventions will have its critics. I went to the theater rather skeptical of the whole concept. but it worked very well in this film.

I am somewhat amazed at the negative comments regarding this film thus far. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however I found the movie interesting and intriguing. The movie took an old genre monster film concept with the new school 1st person point of view concept and developed an entertaining piece of work. The most frightening aspect of the movie was the shaky camerawork. From the encounter in the subway tunnel to the crash landing of a Huey military helicopter, is what made this film riviting. Watching the ground get closer and closer as the chopper spun out of control was enough to make me squirm. Overall an entertaing film with good acting and special effects. DZA

This movie is by far the absolute worst I’ve seen in a while.

Come on…we aren’t going to show the monster/alien/villian until the end; yet it’s pretty obvious what it looks like from the beginning. Really, do you think people are that stupid now?

This movie shows no more than an amatuer trying desperately to break into a business. Did we not have enough with the “Blair Witch Project”? I hoped this film could provide more than the aforementioned movie, yet I was not too surprised when it went downhill from the beginning. It disgusted me that we are willing to put anything up on the screen as long as we get paid.

Seriously, what happened to talented actors who loved what they did and engaged the audience? I am an actor and I want to be on stage, in TV and film, but I don’t ever think I could sell myself short on such a worthless project,

I am troubled by the reviews this movie has received. It sucked and I got my money back!!! This is not a film worth even renting!

We saw the movie last night,,,,,,,,,,and were really let down,,,,,,I liked the idea, and they really could have developed it, but I don’t like to pay $14.00 +/- for that kind of camera work.
All in all, wish I would have been warned about it. Waste of money for the ticket and popcorn.

The splash off in the distance is not the monster arriving from space; it’s a satellite crashing in. This wakes up the monster in the ocean.

Someone said “I’d assume they make a digital storage system that’ll hold at least the necessary 1 hour and 24 minutes of this film”

Acutally, the guy at the very end, said he was filming for 7 hours and 34 minutes. So it was a “long tape” in the camera.

I didn’t like the beginning at all. It started off really slow. The comical relief was a little off for me b/c I was still trying to figure out how it went from really boring to…”whoa, what the h%@!$ is going on!” but otherwise the special effects were great.

The plot wasn’t that great, there were too many unanswered questions, like what happened to their friend with the bleeding eyes? (among many).

I didn’t feel connected with the characters at all, so the only parts that moved me were the ‘in your face’ monster scenes that made me jump or cover my eyes.

It reminded me of “War of the Worlds”, which was a way better sci fi movie.

For those who missed is, at the end, after the explosions, there is a bit of “old” Coney Island footage, the day before or something like that. As the camera pans across to the girl, showing the ocean, there is a distant splash, as of something REALLY BIG hitting the water far out, though no one seems to notice. The Monster arriving from space? Surfacing for the first time off New York? I go with the first guess, actually.

I had to leave about 20 minutes into the movie because I got motion sick. I could not even enjoy the movie becuase of the camera work. I survived blair witch just fine. Several other people- at least 12 left before e and on the way out several people were leaving as well…

I saw the movie and I liked it, to a point. We got to know the characters although, people practically brushed off the younger brother. I would like to know what everyone keeps talking about, they mention the ending and say that it shows where the monster came from. Can someone explain to me, because I was sure I didn’t blink at the end?

Although I would have let that camera go way early in that chaotic situation, and they could’ve added a military scientist that would’ve explained the monster or it’s origins.

I’m the only one in my group that understands that the movie was done in the victims point of view.
