Cole Hauser Will Menace John McClane and Son in A Good Day to Die Hard

Bruce Willis in Die Hard (1988) Movie ImageLet’s face it: the “Die Hard” movies are only as good as their bad guys. I don’t know if Cole Hauser has a Hans Gruber in him, but hey, maybe he’ll be able to do a better job than Thomas Gabriel, the villain in the last “Die Hard” movie played by Timothy Olyphant. (You won’t find a bigger Olyphant fan than me, but sheesh, a computer hacker as your “Die Hard” villain? Meh.)

Word has Hauser landing the role of Collins, a villain in “A Good Day to Die Hard”, the latest entry in the never-say-die action franchise starring Bruce Willis as New York supercop John McClane. This time around, McClane ends up in Moscow, where he must locate his estranged adult son played by “Spartacus’” Jai Courtney and, once again, save the world.

I haven’t a clue when McClane found the time between constantly saving the world and Justin Long to end up with an adult son. I know he had an adult daughter (Mary Elizabeth Winstead played her in “Live Free or Die Hard”), but the son thing is news to me.

Incidentally, this is the third time Hauser has worked with Willis (“Tears of the Sun” and “Hart’s War” being the other two), and it looks like all three films will involve lots of men with guns trying to kill each other. I’m sure it’s just coincidence.

John Moore (“Max Payne”) will direct.

Cole Hauser

Yeah, BIG Olyphant fan, too, but such a boring villain in LFODH.

Have always been a Cole Hauser fan. He has unlimited potential and great screen presence. Also a fan of his father Wings Hauser; his role as Ramrod in “Vice Squad” is something to behold. Good to see Cole doing his thing with Willis.

The original ‘Die Hard’ movie came out in 1988. There was a picture on Holly’s desk at Nakatomi Towers of Holly, John, and their two kids, Lucy and Jack. I can’t remember who was the older of the two, but at the least Jack would have to be 26 or 27 years old. In LF or DH Lucy was a college student, and that one came out in 2007, so perhaps she was the younger of the two, but she would be in her mid to late 20s if she were the older of the two.

As to Timothy Olyphant, the man possesses a talent to be reckoned with on ‘Justified’ but the Thomas Gabriel character was not well written at all. He gave it the umph needed to be menacing, but that was Olyphant’s talent, not the work of the writers’.

Let us hope the writers of the new one, ‘A Good Day To Die’ don’t leave plot holes big enough to drive that truck through, as happened with LF or DH.
