If you’ve already seen the trailer for Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows” (after a long, long, LONG wait), then you probably know what to expect from these handful of character posters. Yes, they’re colorful, and vibrant, and kooky, and completely unserious. (That’s a word, right?) At this point, you’re either captivated by what Burton has done with the property, or you’ve already scratched the film off your must-watch list when it opens in May. But hey, even if you decide not to take in a showing of Burton and Johnny Depp’s “Dark Shadows”, these posters are still kinda cool. In an Andy Warhol, ’70s disco sort of way. Which, I believe, was probably the point.
The plot finds Depp playing Barnabas Collins, a vampire who awakens in the 1970s and, you know, goofy stuff happens. Eva Green plays the witch who wants him and will do anything to have him. Oh, to be pursued by a gorgeous blonde Eva Green. Sigh. And oh, more goofy stuff happens after that. Alice Cooper shows up. Disco dancing. Etc.
Also starring Bella Heathcote, Chloe Moretz, Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Lee, Jackie Earle Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, Thomas McDonell, and Ray Shirley.
Hitting the dance floor May 11, 2012.
