If you like samurai action flicks with a hefty dose of style and blood, then director Keishi Ohtomo’s upcoming endeavor “Rurouni Kenshin” is a motion picture that you should strongly concern yourself with. I’ve been told that the manga is worth reading, though, honestly, I doubt I’ll ever get around to checking it out. Here’s hoping the movie makes for a suitable substitution. I’m sure the manga’s fans will chime in once this thing hits theaters later this year.

Need a synopsis? I happen to have one in my pocket:

Former legendary assassin Kenshin Himura has now become a wandering samurai. Offerring aid & protecting those in need as atonement for his past deeds. During this time comes across and aides Kaoru Kamiya. Her father opened the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, a kendo school located in Tokyo and Kaoru is now an instructor there. Kaoru then invites Kenshin to stay at her dojo. Their relationship develops furhter, but Kenshin is still haunted by his violent past.

“Rurouni Kenshin” stars Takeru Sato, Emi Takei, Yû Aoi, Teruyuki Kagawa, and Yôsuke Eguchi. Japanese fans will be able to partake in the feature when it arrives theatrically on August 25th, 2012. When you’re ready for some seriously slick samurai action, take a gander at the trailer embedded below. I think you’ll approve of the ensuing swordplay.

Yes! This looks a legitimate and authentic portrayal of the animated series! I’m so glad Japan made the film as opposed to Hollywood who would have put some Caucasian in the lead and had a bunch of badly choreographed sword fighting scenes.
I will definitely check this out once it becomes available in the states!

Ninja Scroll, really? I’d pay good money to see that. Sex + demon = awesomeness.

Dude, between “Shinobi: Heart Under Blade,” The “Gantz,” films, and the “Death Note” Films, as well as the effects of Rza’s “The Man with the Iron Fists” and the “Storm Warriors” film it can definitely be done, and right!
