Will we ever get a “Halo” movie? Who knows, but until then, it’s been pretty cool to imagine what a “Halo” movie might look like, thanks to Microsoft putting lots of money into their live-action game trailers. While a movie might not be coming anytime soon, the company is launching an original live-action web series called “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn”, that will focus on a group of pretty cadets training to fight the Covenant. Here’s the live-action trailer that was shown over at Comic Con.
“Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” is a live-action digital series that takes fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC’s greatest vessel: the UNSC Infinity.
The first episode in the web series will debut on Machinima later this year on October 5th, 2012. It certainly looks like Microsoft put a lot of money into the web series, although the idea of following a bunch of bickering “Starship Troopers” kids (minus the cool alien bugs) in what feels like a high school vibe-ish setting for the entire series leaves a lot to be desired. This thing doesn’t even look watchable until Master Chief shows up at the end.
The series, of course, will also launch the “Halo 4” game, which is due out a month later on November 6, 2012. That, I suspect, is really the purpose of all of this.
