To say that Jon Favreau’s high-concept genre mash-up “Cowboys and Aliens” failed to outdraw the box office would be a major understatement. Saddled with a production budget of around $160 million, the film has only managed to rein back $165 million in worldwide box office, with $99 million of that coming from domestic moviegoers. When you factor in promotion and other direct costs of marketing a major studio tentpole Summer blockbuster, “Cowboys and Aliens” would have to rope itself at least $100 million on DVD and Blu-ray to even recoup its cost. That is probably not going to happen, but in case you missed the film when it rode into theaters earlier this year, the movie is now galloping onto DVD and Blu-ray December 6th from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. (And yes, I won’t be making anymore cowboy/horse puns from here on out. Ahem.)
