Daniel Day-Lewis as Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2?

According to what some “unconfirmed sources” have told SuperheroHype, sure, why not? The site says “Sherlock Holmes 2″ director Guy Ritchie is keen to cast the “Last of the Mohicans” star to play Sherlock Holmes’s archnemesis in the sequel, a character that was only heard and talked about, but never really seen in the first “Sherlock Holmes” movie. It’s been rumored that Brad Pitt will be Moriarty for a while now, and certainly the studio would love it if that were true. Robert Downy Jr. vs. Brad Pitt? Hell, the film sells itself.

Though Daniel Day-Lewis would be good choice, too, if these “unconfirmed sources” are to be believed. Whoever ends up with the cushy gig, “Sherlock Holmes 2″, starring Downey as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson, returns to solve more riddles December 16, 2011.

See? He's already got the top hat down, though the mustache needs to go.

I'd love Pitt as Moriarty, but Lewis would just kill the role. I mean he'd just seriously become the character just as he did with Bill the Butcher. He'd be an awesome choice. So no matter who gets it I'm happy.

I think I just would have liked to see Pitt in a villianous role. I have yet to see him play a really bad guy. Maybe he has already I just have'nt seen him do that yet.

Very true and I do think he'd be good in the role. It's really a toss up for me though. I'd love to see him sink his teeth into the role, but at the same time I'd love to see Lewis' take on it.
