Who knew there was a market for horror-themed musicals? It boggles the mind. To be perfectly frank, I really don’t understand the appeal of “Reop! The Genetic Opera”. After watching the flick for the first time on DVD, I was extremely excited to mock it with my friends. Much to my dismay, they all seemed to loved it, and I was left alone in my misery. Given the movie’s success, it’s really not surprising that Darren Lynn Bousman and Terrance Zdunich has returned to that cinematic well for “The Devil’s Carnival”, yet another garish genre picture with lots of songs. Think “Glee” for horror-minded Cosplay enthusiasts.
But that’s just one man’s opinion. Apparently there’s a strong market for such things, as Bousman and Zdunich are planning a 30-city “rock tour” complete with an accompanying 13-song soundtrack. Resting below these cynical words is the official teaser, which, of course, contains a release date for the official trailer. What a world! “The Devil’s Carnival”, which stars Bill Moseley, Slipknot’s The Clown, Ivan Moody, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Ogre, Paul Sorvino, Marc Senter, Emilie Autumn, Sean Patrick Flanery, and J. LaRose, will begin its journey across the United States this April. When you’ve properly prepared yourself, the aforementioned teaser demands your attention. All apologies to those I’ve offended.
