The boys at Latino-Review previously reported that “Conan’s” Jason Momoa wowed the Marvel staff with his audition for Drax the Destroyer in the studio’s upcoming space launch, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, so much so that the studio immediately offered him the gig. But negotiations are not going as smoothly as fans of Momoa would hope, it has also been reported.
If a Momoa-Marvel deal doesn’t go through, LR says there’s another musclebound fella waiting in the wings to grab that coveted, potentially career-making role of Drax — former wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista, who has been steadily climbing up from the ranks of direct-to-DVD (with roles in “The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption” and “House of the Rising Sun”, which he starred in) to meatier roles in big-budget productions like the recent “Man with the Iron Fists” and the upcoming “Riddick” with Vin Diesel.
According to the site, if Momoa cops too much of an attitude and loses the gig, Bautista is Marvel’s next top choice, though if neither actor gets signed, Marvel may go the unknown route. Which, um, doesn’t really preclude Bautista, who is an unknown to much of the moviegoing world. Yes, I know, he was a pretty popular WWE wrestler. I’m talking general moviegoing audience-wise.
And oh yeah, LR also chimes in on AICN’s report debunking their Planet Hulk and World War Hulk rumors. They don’t really have anything new to report on their end — that is, they can’t debunk AICN’s debunking — but they seem to be sticking to their guns on the matter, and if you feel like getting a refresher course on it, feel free to re-read their scoop here.
The takeaway is that there’s nothing new, just two sites claiming they both have the right story. I don’t suppose it’s possible that they could both be right?
