David Fincher to Direct The Killer

Variety reports that David Fincher (”Zodiac”) is being pursued to direct the live-action movie version of a comic book series called “The Killer”, not to be confused with the John Woo movie of the same name, which is itself being unnecessarily remade at about the same time. This version is based on the comic book by Matz (real name is Alexis Nolent) and Luc Jacamon that was originally published in France in 1988, and came to America as a 10-issue limited series by Archaia Studio Press. Paramount has already purchased the rights to the movie, and wants Fincher to direct, with Brad Pitt and his Plan B shingle doing the producing work.

[The Killer] is about a top assassin suddenly plagued by his conscience and a highly competent cop hot on his tail.

Well, someone’s going to have to change the title of their movie, and since John Woo’s “The Killer” got made into a movie first, I’m guessing Fincher’s version is going to have to bite the bullet, as it were.

But in any case, I’m really anxious to see Fincher back to doing an action movie. A guy with his kind of eye will make this something to see.
