David Goyer to Direct Mignola’s Baltimore or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire

I don’t think David Goyer has ever seen a comic book property that he didn’t want to write or direct, or other people didn’t want him to write or direct. Mister Comic Book is now set to direct “Hellboy” creator Mike Mignola’s latest work, “Baltimore or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire”, an illustrated novel by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden. The two authors will write the script for Goyer, who counts among his upcoming projects the comic book spin-off “Magneto” and the Doug Liman-directed “Jumper”. The whole deal is worth a cool seven figures for Mignola and Golden. Now that’s some nice scratch, kids.

More from Variety:

Just-published by Bantam, the graphic novel tells the story of the awakening of supreme evil on Earth. Lord Henry Baltimore is bitten by a demonic vampire bat on a WWI battlefield. The plague destroys his family, and Baltimore creates a team to hunt and fight the Red King, the embodiment of all evil.

Mignola created the comicbook character and series “Hellboy” and was a conceptual artist on “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” and “Blade 2.” Golden has written novels including “The Myth Hunters” and “Wildwood Road,” and three of his titles are being developed into movies by studios.

Well, the plot sounds kind of jumbled, but I’m sure it’ll all make sense in the end. I guess.
