David Slade to Direct Thriller Unthinkable
Unthinkable (2009) Movie — By Nix on February 8, 2008
I’ve seen snippets of David Slade’s “Hard Candy”, and I just got around to watching his take on vampires in “30 Days of Night”, and I gotta admit, I like the man’s style. Did you see the moving overhead shot near the beginning of “30 Days” when the vampires assault the town? Brilliant, brilliant stuff. Slade’s latest is the terrorist-themed “Thinkable”.

Like Slade’s thriller “Hard Candy,” “Unthinkable” delves into psychological manipulation centering on the interrogation of a man who knows the location of three nuclear weapons set to detonate in the U.S.
Peter Woodward (“Closing the Ring”) and Oren Moverman (“I’m Not There”) wrote the screenplay.
God, I hope it’s not another Hollywood preaching spiel about how bad waterboarding is, and gosh darn it, we can’t stoop to the level of the terrorists lest Al Qaeda wins, etc etc. Just give me a straightforward, badass Jack Bauer-type thriller, Hollywood. Can I please go to the movies just to be entertained and not beaten over the head with “a message” nowadays about how terrorism is all our fault? You used to be so good at that…
