Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Adds Judy Greer

Fox’s “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, the sequel to their 2011 hit “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” (I can’t wait for the third movie, “Can These Titles Possibly Get Any Clunkier on the Planet of the Apes”), has added Judy Greer to the cast.

Greer is a long-time TV and movie actress (in the movies, she’s usually the “goofy best friend” of the female lead), with roles in “Californication”, “Mad Love”, and “Arrested Development”, though she’ll always be the freaky Dr. Elizabeth Plimpton from “The Big Bang Theory” to me.

Vulture has Greer playing the female chimp Cornelia in the upcoming sci-fi sequel, setting her up as the loves interest for rebel ape chief Caesar (mo-capped by Andy Serkis). As with Serkis, Greer will be doing her duties in a mo-cap suit.

Matt Reeves (“Cloverfield”) will direct the film, currently set for a May 23, 2014 bow.

Besides Serkis, Greer joins Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman in the film.

“Dawn” will pick up where “Rise” left off, and will be set 15 years after Caesar’s army caused all sorts of holy hell and the virus that gave them their intelligence having decimated the human population. Clarke, Russell, and Oldman will play members of the remaining human race trying to avert disaster. (Spoiler: They fail!)
