Day of the Dead Remake is Coming in 2008. Maybe.

If you were wondering what the heck happened to that “Day of the Dead” remake that was supposed to come out in 2006, you aren’t the only one. The film was scheduled for release sometime in 2006, but lack of interest and general negative fan reaction to the trailers sort of killed that idea. Now, according to the guys over at Mania.com, the film has since gone through what they call “massive re-shoots”, and is scheduled for a February 2008 release. The release date comes courtesy of star Christa Campbell, who makes the claim while at the recent Spike TV Scream 2007 Awards. The film stars Ving Rhames, Nick Cannon, Mena Suvari, Christa Campbell, and Annalynne McCord, and is (was?) originally directed by Steve Miner.

The world is overrun by the return of the flesh hungry living-dead, leaving a small group of scientists and military personnel holed-up in an underground bunker as a last ditch effort to stay alive.

Here’s one of the trailers that came out a while ago. You know, I don’t recall it being all that bad. It actually looks kind of decent, although granted, there’s no “big screen polish” to it, more like a direct-to-DVD sequel.
