Death Race Remake Adds Model Natalie Martinez

Written by Nix | August 21st, 2007 | 3 Comments |

Paul W.S. Anderson’s Anderson has added a new face to his remake of Roger Corman’s vehicular actioner “Death Race” (formerly “Death Race 3000″), former model Natalie Martinez, who is currently in negotiations (basically, it’s a done deal, who is Natalie Martinez and what kind of clot does she have to be “negotiating” anything? Exactly) to play the love interest of star Jason Statham. Martinez will play Case, a woman who is assigned to be Statham’s navigator and ends up assisting him in his plan to escape the prison. She joins a cast that already includes Joan Allen, Ian McShane and Tyrese Gibson.

“Death Race” sees a future America in which prison inmates are forced to brutally compete in an enclosed arena. Statham is starring as a prisoner who, with only weeks to go before his release, is coerced into being a driver in a road rally to the death and becomes a crowd favorite called Frankenstein.

Shooting for “Death Race” will start later this month in Montreal, with Paul W.S. Anderson directing.

I just hope they somehow maintain the original feel of the Corman flick.
The original is a deserving cult classic. I’m all for the hotties, but I do not want to see the legend of the Death Race cheapened by stupid sub”clots”.
