Death Race Remake Plot Details, Sexy Beast Sequel

The more people seem to hate the idea of Paul Anderson remaking “Death Race”, the more I’m intrigued by it. Here are some more details about the film’s plot via Empire Online, who got it from the mouth of Ian McShane, who says about the film:

“This is even more violent,” delights British star Ian McShane. “This is set in the future, it’s like NASCAR to the death inside prison. On TV. And I play the guy who runs the race, coaches the racers, from inside prison. It’s a lot of fun.”

Sounds, er, bloody.

In the film, McShane will play a “super-mechanic” in the film. He will co-star alongside Jason Statham as the crowd hero Frankenstein, and model Nathalie Martinez as Statham’s navigator Case who helps him plot an escape.

And oh yeah, McShane also mentions that during a lunch with Johnny Hurt and Ray Winstone, the trio were talking about how interested they were in doing a “Sexy Beast” sequel. And if you’ve seen “Sexy Beast”, you know what good news this is…
