Dennis Quaid and Zhang Ziyi in The Horsemen Images

Former music video director Jonas Åkerlund’s “The Horsemen” sure looks like it has the makings of a David Fincher “Seven”-type thriller. The trailer makes it look moody, dirty, grungy, and littered with damaged characters. Plus, it has Dennis Quaid, playing against type as a broken down cop, and Zhang Ziyi, possibly also playing against type as a suspect in a series of serial murders.

The official plot goes like this:

Aidan Breslin is a bitter detective emotionally distanced from his two young sons following the untimely death of his devoted wife. While investigating a series of murders of rare violence, he discovers a terrifying link between himself and the suspects in a chain of murders that seem to be based on the Biblical prophecies concerning the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse: War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death.
