I’m not sure if Antoine Fuqua’s “The Equalizer” is going to spawn a franchise, but I sure wouldn’t mind one. Of course most of that will depend on how much star Denzel Washington wants to keep playing the same character. That’s not really a given despite what the producers will tell you. The film should be a hit, though. Honestly, I don’t see this movie failing at the box office. I would be really surprised if it did.
Anyways. Check out a new trailer and poster for “The Equalizer,” which adapts the ’80s TV show starring an old and white English guy. It’s violentastic.
In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can’t stand idly by — he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
Starring Denzel Washington, Marton Csokas, Chloë Grace Moretz, and David Harbour.
Things get equalized this September 26th.
