Meet Johnny Depp, the hardest working man in show business. If Depp has his way, he’ll knock out three major Hollywood movies in 2010 alone. As everyone probably already knows by now, Depp is returning as Jack Sparrow in the fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie with new director Rob Marshall (“Chicago”) and an entirely new cast that includes Penelope Cruz. So why did he decide to come back, after making waves that he might not? Depp tells Sci Fi Wire:
“One thing that I found very reassuring was a very good conversation with Dick Cook, who is someone I admire greatly. So, yeah, that helped a lot. He was a perfect gentleman about the entire situation.
Also, knowing that we’re coming at it from a different angle at this point, with Rob Marshall and a totally new take, it’s a new story.”
The fourth “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie will find Sparrow going in search of the Fountain of Youth, with Cruz playing his female foil/love interest.
Meanwhile, Depp is also very keen on getting his and director Tim Burton’s “Dark Shadows” movie into production by late 2010. According to Depp, the plan is for him to knock out “The Tourist” with Angelina Jolie, jump to Hawaii to do “Pirates 4”, before re-teaming with Burton again for “Dark Shadows”.
In-between those blockbusters, Depp will catch a nap or two. Maybe.
