Everybody who is interested in comic book movies and has a movie blog have been talking about the upcoming cross-cover cameos by characters from the two upcoming Marvel movies, “The Incredible Hulk” and “Iron Man”. And with Marvel as the sole studio behind the two movies, there seems to be no obstacle to such a thing; in fact, why wouldn’t the two movies cross-over, would be the real question. So what does the star have to say about it? Here’s Robert Downey Jr. with his take.

He managed to be a bit more forthcoming on the topic of his “Hulk” cameo, revealing the moment in question.

“It happens to be a scene where I basically approach [William Hurt’s character, General Ross], and we may be considering going into some sort of limited partnership together,” Downey stated.

Adding, Downey said, “The great thing is he — and I don’t want to give too much away — but he’s in disrepair at the time I find him. It was really fun seeing him play this really powerful character who’s half in the bag.”

So there you go. Iron Man, in his civvies, shows up in “Hulk”. This pretty much confirms what Hurt told MTV a while back.

  1. Well, Marvel isn’t the sole studio behind “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” Both are being released by Paramount and Universal, respectively.

What makes me wonder is why “Thunderbolt” Ross can be in “Iron Man,” or vice versa, but they cannot use The Kingpin on “The Spectacular Spider-Man” cartoon because Daredevil’s rights are tied up elsewhere. Weird.

  2. Yes, but maybe I’m wrong, but isn’t Marvel the only one MAKING the movies, and they’re just distributing them through Paramount/Universal? As such, only Marvel has creative control, while the others are just a “get it out there” arm, thus have no say in the movies’ content?
