Diary of the Dead Sequel Ready for March 2008 Start Date

Everyone who knows me knows that I love zombie movies. And when you put the genius of George Romero behind it, as writer and director, and I’m there come hell or high water. So I was excited about George’s return to indie zombieland with “Diary of the Dead”, and now, before “Dead” has even come out, “Diary of the Dead 2″ is already gearing up for a March 2008 production! Once again, George returns as writer and director, and continues the story left off at the end of “Diary”. I haven’t seen the first one yet (I plan to at the first possible opportunity, of course), but if Romero is already hype about a sequel, then he must really have a good story to tell.

About the sequel from Movies Online:

The “Diary” continues. Our heroes, trapped in the mansion where we left them, battle waves of ravenous zombies, barely escaping alive. In search of a safe place to settle, they commandeer an abandoned ferry and sail to a deserted island, only to find that it is already populated by a civilization of the dead.

Told in the same first-person style that distinguished “George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead”, the next episode of the saga is a violent siege set in the middle of nowhere, a desperate struggle for survival, and peace, between two tribes: the living and the living dead.

There is still no release date for the first “Diary of the Dead”, but expect it late 2007.
