South Korean filmmaker Jeong-beom Lee is badass. I know I say that a lot about South Korean directors, but Lee is particularly awesome. “The Man from Nowhere” is a tidy thriller worthy of your attention. In fact, anyone who subscribes to Netflix streaming should take a moment to check it out. It will prove once again how Hollywood has seriously dropped the ball in the thriller department. Need proof? Watch Robert Luketic’s “Paranoia” and get back to me.
Jeong-beom Lee is ready to bring his magic touch back to theaters across South Korea with the upcoming flick “Crying Man,” a film about a professional assassin and the person he’s tasked with killing. I’m sure there’s more going on than that, but this logline is essentially all we have to work with at the moment.
“Crying Man,” which stars Dong-gun Jang, Min-hee Kim, and Han-na Kang, opens in South Korea this June. Check out the recently-released trailer below. In my opinion, it’s definitely one to keep your one good eye on. However, it does seem eerily similar to the underrated Mark Dacascos flick “Crying Freeman.”
However, I’ll let you be the judge of that.
