There have been a lot of speculation about Disney, post-Lucasfilm acquisition, expanding the “Star Wars” universe into other “Star Wars” movies that don’t necessary involve the upcoming new trilogy, the first of which will be directed by J.J. Abrams.

Yesterday we heard a rumor that Yoda was going to get his own movie. Of course, that’s dependent on there actually being stand-alone “Star Wars” movies. Turns out, yup, Disney will be doing exactly just that.

Talking to CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed as much, saying that they will be launching a series of stand-alone “Star Wars” movies that won’t impact the upcoming trilogy. He declined to say which characters will be involved, though:

So there you have it. Official confirmation.

Now where’s my Boba Fett movie? I’m told he actually survived that desert worm thing that ate him in “Return of the Jedi”…

Yea Nix, Boba clawed his was out of the Sarlacc and went on to become Mandalore (ruler of the Mandalorians) even taught Jaina Solo how to kill *spoiler* her brother.

I have no idea what any of that means, but cool, my hope for a Boba Fett movie remains alive! (So to speak.)

LOL ok, Boba is from the group of Mercenaries and Bounty Hunters called Madalorians, have their own planet and everything. Jango Fett, of course boba’s ‘father” was their leader called Mandalore. Boba inherited that title. The thing in the desert from return of the Jedi was called a Sarlacc. And in the books *spoilers* Jacen Solo, han and leia’s oldest son, turns to the dark side. It’s up to Jaina, his twin sister to take him down and she goes to learn from Boba as he killed many Jedi. :)

Haha, that would be cool. A planet of bounty hunters. I could dig a movie like that. Maybe open with Boba climbing out of the pit and take it from there…

oh yea, and even cooler is the Mandalorians are not a race but a tribe, so there are all kinds of different species that are Mandalorians

No sadly not, this has been retconned in the Clone Wars. Up until very recently the Mandalorians had become a peaceful people however there was a group called Death Watch that were terrorists but also honoured the old Mandolorian ways.
A good series of books on the Mandolorian warrior culture is off course the Republic Commando series.
Spoiler alert!!!!! The Death Watch recently came under the control of the duo of Darth Maul and Savage Opress and overthrew the government, so who knows what’s gonna happen?

I stay as far away from the clone wars as possible, do they truly consider it Cannon though?
