Disney/Marvel Officialy Schedules Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man for Late 2015

Ant-Man Comic Book Cover

For the longest time, I honestly didn’t think Marvel would ever actually do an “Ant-Man” film. Then again, I never actually thought they could pull off an “Avengers” film, either, and they proved me wrong. Oh did they ever. And while I’m still not sold on a superhero who can shrink to the size of an ant and control, er, other ants with a helmet, hey, it’s Marvel, they’ve proven they can make even the most ridiculous concept respectable, so more power to ‘em.

As for when you can expect Edgar Wright’s “Ant-Man”, Disney/Marvel have now made it official: “Ant-Man” will be busting bad guys with ant power in theaters everywhere … November 6, 2015.

Yup, you’ll still have to wait a whopping three years. On the plus side, 2015 is also when Marvel has scheduled Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers 2″.

So, to sum up, here’s the full list of upcoming Marvel movies:

“Iron Man 3″ (in 3D) on 5/3/13.

“Thor: The Dark World” (in 3D) on 11/8/13.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (apparently NOT in 3D! — as of now, anyway) on 4/4/14.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” on 8/1/14.

“The Avengers 2″ on 5/1/15.

“Ant-Man” on 11/6/15.

Mark your calendars accordingly, kids.

Cool Stories From Zergnet

Not sure why the ant man gets a movie before a slew of other possibilities. It’s going to be a Daredevil, which technically should have been a direct to DVD, if it wasn’t for Affleck and his wife.

My vote is a Micronauts or a New Mutants with Cable before Ant Man!

While I agree that there are plenty of other Marvel heroes more overdue for a film I’m stoked for this! Hank Pym is a really layered character and will be interesting to watch. Three years is a mighty long wait but I really think that if the script is cool this thing will be phenomenal. Wright can do some really cool things visually. Time for some casting!

Just more curious as to why Ant Man. I’m betting all the titles are up for a movie, but wonder who fast tracked Ant Man ahead of the other bigger titles.

I have to admit, I didn’t read Ant Man unless he happened to be in another comic or I was reading a friends collection.

        • TotesMagotes

Plus, with Hank Pym introduced into the universe we might get to see Ultron in The Avengers 3!!!!!

          • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

I want Ultron so Ant-Man is almost a must.

          • Juggernaut

Ultron is almost a lock for the villain of The Avengers 3!!!

          • marvelguru

Well that is kinda false because in different stories in the marvel universe Tony Stark is the one who crated Ultron. In some it is Hank Pym who creates him

I believe that an Ant-Man film was set to be part of the phase one solo films before The Avengers in order to have the original team’s line-up. However, there were some scheduling conflicts that the director and studio had as well as some technological obstacles and script issues. And as ToesMagotes pointed out besides bringing in Pym, Wasp and possibly Scott Lang the character also has a lot of cool stuff to bring to the table like Ultron.
