Disney’s Tron Legacy Scheduled For 2010

Although I was never very good at the arcade game, I am a huge fan of Disney’s 1982 sci-fi classic “Tron.” In fact, when I learned that the studio was actually lensing the long-awaited follow-up, I may have blown a synapse or two in the process. Disney has finally announced that the sequel, “Tron Legacy,” will make its theatrical debut on December 17th, 2010. Additionally, the film will be released in both Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D, for those of you who like all their movies crisp, clean, and huge. And while this date sounds extremely far away, I have no doubt it will be worth the wait. That’s blind devotion for you.

Here’s the synopsis from IMDb:

Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant, father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

If you’ve yet to experience the trailer, I strongly suggest you do so immediately. If it doesn’t give you goosebumps, schedule a doctor’s appointment post-haste.

Author: Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.
