Pretty much every one who loves Dragonball’s going to join that boycott against this movie upon seeing these.
The main problem I see with this movie is that, if Hollywood gets sequel happy (like they do with any movie that is remotely successful), then they will have to explain how Piccolo becomes a friend of Goku’s and the Saiyans; after all, that’s the story for pretty much the rest of Dragon Ball Z.

Im afraid you are mistaken. Krillen wasn’t really a major character in Dragon Ball, but became a truly important character in Dragon Ball Z. Krillen shows up later in the series as goku’s rival for a little while and become a decent fighter, but is killed by King Piccolo’s men. then he isn’t even in the series for a long while. He is revived and fights King Piccolo’s son Piccolo in a tournement but forefits the fight realizing that he is no match for piccolo. With this said Krillenn plays such a minor roll in this part of the series that introducing his character in a movie that is limited on time would be pointless.
Um……not only was Krillin a major character in the original series, but he was the reason Goku went all apeshit after he died for the first time in the original series. And he was the reason Goku got so determined to want to be the best fighter when he joined with master roshi, since krillin, at the time, was a better fighter/student. And if you are talking about validity, then you cannot even begin to have a dragonball movie when there is no Red Ribbon army……and by the time goku was old enough to be considered a teen, all those events from dragonball would have already passed.
Krillen is a major person because in the end of the Frieza Saga krillen get killed and that why Goku turns into ss and he goku win
Then why bother making up characters to be Gokuu’s friends?
