Dragonball Update: Sequel, New Pics
Dragonball: Evolution (2009) Movie — By Nix on February 20, 2009
To no one’s surprise, “Dragonball: Evolution” star Justin Chatwin says he’s already signed on for more “Dragonball” movies, and that a sequel has already been written. According to Chatin, the sequel, if one were to happen, would go “more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball”, as well as travel to more intergalactic worlds outside of Earth. Plus, new promo images from the movie.
From DBTheMovie (via SciFiNow), here’s Chatwin’s take on the sequel:
“If there were to be a sequel I think it… well, I know that it would go to a really interesting place, because they already have the second script written.” When pressed for details, Chatwin revealed a little more about the direction of the celluloid version of the franchise. “It’s really, really cool. The second one goes more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a real Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”
The whole “signed on for sequels” is not a big deal; this is pretty much standard practice nowadays in Hollywood when you’re doing a movie with franchise potential. The fact that the sequel has already been written, though, is kind of a shocker.
Meanwhile, new pics from the movie have surfaced, including some nice promo shots of Emmy Rossum as Bulma and a sword-swinging Piccolo via Civilized James. Click on the images for more new pics in our “Dragonball” movie gallery.

I know what every one is going to say.. Dragonball evolution is its own Dragonball. But its saying they want to go into the genealogy of Dragonball but they want to travel outside of earth.. Thats DragonballZ not dragonball! I just feel like thats going to ruin it Im already nervous the 1st one will be terrible!
but hey i still have to see the 1st one to judge how the sequel will be.. lets PREY its good
So they’re skipping Piccolo Jr. and the Saiyans and going straight to Freiza and Namek?
Also, Piccolo doesn’t use weapons.
I dont think that there are going to skip the saiyans. Im sure the saiyans are gonna be played into the the whole “genealogy of Dragonball” and they will be some great threat, and goku is also a saiyan and maybe they show some history of saiyans so dont let Hollywood fool you they got plans for the saiyans, imagine all the fans that want to see a super saiyan on the big screen they will pull out a semi decent film for that…but I could be wrong were talking about Hollywood they have screwed up alot of films…
hollywood is what MADE the film buissness what it is…
and if you know martial arts, whats keeping you from using a sword when its more handy and deadly?
Dragonball Z, Dragonball E, Dragonball V, Dragonball AF, Dragonball X, Dragonball EX, Dragonball Gay p0rn, Dragonball LoL, Dragonball RoFl, Dragonball xXx, etc.
who cares? if it has bonebreaking fights, massive lightshows and a lot of screaming, its still dragonball.
all 3 dragonball shows sucked storywise anyways, it was the fights that made it awesome.
My friend said he was looking up information on Japanese sites and there were some advanced screenings. He said most reviews from Japanese folks were along the lines of “there can be a live action Dragon Ball indeed.” And then he smiled.
I’m gonna try to find the time to write up a review when the movie comes out since I live in Korea. Wish me luck!
Well I have been looking at the Japanese reviews all the time, and none of them (except those from the same few employees) ever said this atrocity deserves a sequel
WORST MOVIE EVERRRR GOKU ISNT WHITEEEEEEEEEEEEE
