Drew Barrymore is Like So Into Making a Charlie’s Angels 3

Charlie's Angels 3 Movie — By Nix on January 26, 2009

The funniest thing about the “Charlie’s Angels” movie isn’t the idea of three girls kicking ass in ridiculously over-produced style that has not a shred of credibility to them, but the idea of Drew Barrymore being one of those ass kicking girls. Let’s face it, Drew Barrymore can barely reach for her pepper spray when a would-be mugger approaches her from half a mile away, much less do insane wire-fu in slow-motion. Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, yeah, I could maybe buy that just a little. But hey, it’s the movies, and in the movies, even Drew Barrymore can be reasonably made to look capable with enough crazy zooms, slow-motion, and wacky wires. Now word from the lisping one is that if she has her way, a “Charlie’s Angels 3″ will be forthcoming very soon. Why, you ask? $544 million worldwide for the first two movies, that’s why.

E! Online says thusly:

“I’m so into it,” Barrymore said while promoting her new star-filled romantic comedy, He’s Just Not That Into You. “I’m so into it—Charlie’s Angels III!”

Ideas are being kicked around, including the possible introduction of a fourth Angel. It happened in the original Aaron Spelling series when Cheryl Ladd joined the cast in 1977 as Kris Munroe, sister of Farrah Fawcett’s iconic Jill.

Let’s not forget about a villain. Sam Rockwell and Crispin Glover were among the baddies the first time around. Demi Moore appeared in Full Throttle as Madison Lee, a former Angel turned vamped-up villainess. For the next flick, they say they’ll probably go with another guy.

Since Barrymore is one of the producers of the franchise, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that if she wants to do a third “Charlie’s Angels” movie, and the other two girls are willing, it’s gonna happen. The previous two were both directed by McG, who has since moved on to less slow-motiony fair like “We Are Marshall” and the upcoming “Terminator Salvation”.

Below: Two’s company, three’s a wet dream come true.
